Of Questionable Paternity
Post #1The Christianities generally have it that the Middle East deity Jehovah/Yahweh is the "God the Father".
But here we have it that the Jesus character in the propaganda/scripture was actually sired by the Holy Spirit/Ghost.
And if the Jehovah/Jesus/Holy Ghost combination is "God" for most of the Christianities, did Jesus - the "God the Son" - impregnate his immaculate, virginal human mother with himself …?
"God" … just whatever humans imagine it to be.
"Scripture" … just whatever humans write it to be.
"Scripture" … just whatever humans write it to be.
Re: Who did it?
Post #4The good folks at Christianity.net.au have a shot at explaining SOME of it:Red Wolf wrote: What has always puzzled me is the God the Father is not Jesus' father because the Bible says The Holy Spirit caused Mary to be pregnant.
This is a really tricky question, isn’t it! Many Christians have puzzled over this for many years, so it is pretty normal to struggle to understand how the relationship between God and Jesus works.
... the Bible tells us that Jesus isn’t ‘God’s human son’, rather, that Jesus, who is co-eternal with God (that means that like God, he existed forever) became human. Jesus was like God - eternal and perfect - but he became human so that he could enter into our world and die for humans. ...
The actual ‘mechanics’ of how God had a human son are not explained to us, but we are left in no doubt that Mary’s conception and pregnancy are miraculous. http://christianity.net.au/questions/ho ... d_gods_son
There we are ...!!!
The answer is, it's "miraculous".
Which, in other fantasy worlds, means it's "magic".
"God" … just whatever humans imagine it to be.
"Scripture" … just whatever humans write it to be.

Jehovah is "God"
Jesus is "God"
Holy Ghost is "God"
Mary is the "Mother of God"
"God" sired "God" on the "Mother of God".
It must be magic for this to not be some sort of divine incest.
Leviticus 20:10
And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
Leviticus 20:11
And the man that lieth with his father's wife hath uncovered his father's nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
Leviticus 20:12
And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.
"God" … just whatever humans imagine it to be.
"Scripture" … just whatever humans write it to be.
"Scripture" … just whatever humans write it to be.

As we see with the story of David and Bathsheba, God makes exceptions for his favorites. According to Leviticus 20:10, both should have been killed. Instead God takes the life of their innocent son.SallyF wrote:

Given that God makes exceptions for his favorites, we certainly shouldn't be surprised when he breaks his own rules and doesn't hold himself responsible.

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.
