Why did God create Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

Post by Donray »

If you belive God create it, then God at least does nothing to stop it. Is God killing many humans again to be spiteful? To teach us a lesson? Just because he can?

OR

IS God testing us to make sure we still have faith as he kills your parents, spouse or kids?

People will still die even if there is social distancing and that's according to some government models:
During the briefing by the coronavirus task force on Tuesday, March 31st, a chart was positioned behind the lectern where Trump and others, such as Dr. Deborah Birx, spoke. Birx is coordinator of the coronavirus task force. The chart’s title was “Goals of Community Mitigation.
...
Importantly, on Tuesday, figures were added to the curves showing expected numbers of deaths with and without social distancing measures: 1,5 to 2.5 million deaths without social distancing, 100 to 240 thousand deaths with social distancing measures.
...
Around the same time, epidemiologists at the Imperial College London published a model which indicated that if nothing was done to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus – and the contagion is allowed to move unimpeded through the population – this would lead to 81% of the U.S. population, about 264 million people, contracting the virus. And, the model estimated that 2.2 million would die. The Imperial College London model suggested that three months of social distancing measures – including household quarantines, school and university closures, and the isolation and contact tracing of infected patients – could reduce numbers of U.S. deaths by 50%.

Danmark, people are going to die no matter what. Notice that deaths are reduced and not stopped. So your point earlier of no one dying, the standard you used to dismiss my plan and others like it, is just a pipe dream.

Why quarantine the immune? Why quarantine the low risk population? Given that these two groups will experience little to no deaths AND the fact that we need a working economy, it's only reasonable to the low risk crowd to return to work.

Our lives drastically changed with COVID-19,
our cities have become tragic scenes.
This virus which has become so mean
unfairly affects the poor – it seems.

It hurts the young and especially the old,
whose smiles and fragile bodies are cold.
This seemingly unbeatable viral fein,
why can’t we escape this horrible dream.

The hospitals and staffs are overwhelmed,
while our leader hides in his personal realm.
Yet through this we see some good,
as people help each other in their neighborhoods.

We feel such sadness and pity,
as we hear the death toll in New York City.
But each night exactly at seven,
people come out and cheer to the heavens.

Our first responders, doctors, and each nurse,
man the front line to fight this curse.
Animal shelters are void and empty,
as those lonely and secluded adopt even the gimpy.

Tomorrow belongs to those with a plan,
we had one in place, but it was unfunded and banned.
So we suffer today from our lack of preparedness,
while climate change is coming and deserves our awareness!

So look, look, look again now,
see where we are, and ask How?
For if we continue in our ways,
these could become the “Good Old Days.

The arguments posed on this subtopic recently seem to have left the questions of the OP far behind. If one believes in 'intelligent design' then, "Yes, God created the SARS viruses along with all other living organisms."

Why would God do such a thing?
There is no reasonable answer, presuming a loving God.

This is why creationists must find another explanation. They've come up with, "Well, God created everything, but he also gave man choice. Man's evil has created 'bad' organisms."
What was the 'evil' that created this virus? What was the evil that created birth defects, or a host of other diseases and unfortunate conditions?
Do babies with birth defects or inherited diseases have sinful parents? Is that the cause? If 'all are sinful' then why aren't all babies defective?

Did you intend to debate anything you just posted? Or is it just "propaganda"?

If the hospitals are overwhelmed in New York, why was the navy ship (the Comfort) requested by governor Cuomo not used much?

It was more plagiarism than propaganda.

A local high school class was given an assignment to write a poem about their thoughts and affects of COVID_19 on their lives.

I posted one student's response.

He could have written about his senior year being destroyed!

There will be no prom, no graduation ceremony, no last dances, etc.

But he chose to write that poem above.

My guess would be that there were doubts about the ship.

The captain of the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt lost his job because he went public in an effort to save his crew.

I imagine he had tried other avenues prior to going public -- without success.

So he went outside the system to save lives he felt responsible for.

He probably did save lives, but lost his command.

That takes courage and character -- rare characteristics in today's world.

Are you claiming that the Comfort's not being used much negates the statement that New York City hospitals were overwhelmed?

Lets back up so I can make sure I get your claim correct. You posted a claim that hospitals are overwhelmed. What do you mean by that? Are you saying that all hospitals in the US are at capacity due to covid-19?

If that is your claim, then please back it up with verifiable evidence.

The poem is about COVID-19 and it's affects.

So he probably meant that hospitals and other services in COVID-19 "hotspots" are overwhelmed.

It's been often repeated in the news.

Just trying to separate hype from facts. The student seems to blame Trump for everything and without elaboration, some may take it as some dooms day scenario of all hospitals being at capacity. Some unfortunately wouldn't mind if people thought that so that's why I call it propaganda. It's an election year. In New York, there is certainly hard work for the staff but it has also been reported that New York state actually utilized much much less hospital resources (beds and ventilators) than what they requested.

Some of the experts on the Corona Virus task force said that even if everything in the CDC guidelines were followed, over 100,000 would still die. Perhaps the student you quoted has the impression that all ideals preparations being in play would've led to no deaths? If so that is unreasonable.

It's pretty tough to talk in rhymes
About these trying, troubled times
But even tougher to believe
That God has made our neighbours grieve.
With threats of virus in the air
It's useless to resort to prayer;
Instead I think researchers will
Rely upon our human skill;
And let us hope their constant labours
Will find a cure to help our neighbours.
But when this problem has been solved
We can be sure God's not involved.

Go well
