Is the Bible free from errors? I say it is. I've found reasonable answers to every, alleged Bible error contained in The Skeptic's Annotated Bible (which is basically an exhaustive compilation of them, disguised as a "skeptical Bible commentary").
Any takers? Any stumpers? I'd be happy to answer as best as I can.
May God richly bless you.
Sincerely,
Jason

Hi goat,
Nice to meet you.
I encountered this issue when I rebutted the SAB. Here is the information you seek.
SAB:
Luke 2:1 - When was Jesus born? After 6 CE. Quirinius became governer of Syria in 6 CE, ten years after king Herod's death.
SABCE:
This verse does not tell us which year Jesus was born. However, the mention of Quirinius taking the census is likely historically true. He was a person in whom Augustus confided and he was sent into Syria and Judea with the power to make the census. In this case, he acted as governor and later, he was officially given the title. This is revealed in part by the mention of this being his first census.
Sincerely,
Jason

According to Josephus, this in in 6 c.e. According to Josephus, this census happened in 6 c.e. and he became governor of Syria in that year.Jason Gastrich wrote:Hi goat,

According to Josephus , Herod the King died in 4 bce. This leaves a 9 year gap between the death of Herod, and the census that is mentioned in Luke. We have the historical record for that external to the Gospels.
Your explanation does not resolve the contradiction.

Did Jesus tell His disciples to take a staff or not?
(Mark 6:8 and Matthew 10:9-10; Luke 9:3)

When you've answered goat, I have a more difficult question. In Daniel, 3:23 which reads "But these three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, fell into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire still tied up" is the next line:
a) Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his high officials, "Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?"
or
b) They walked around in the midst of the flames, singing hymns to God and blessing the Lord.?

I believe it does, although it might disagree with what you say Josephus said. Can you cite this claim of yours? I'd like to read where Josephus is clear that Quirinius was actually governor and not simply acting as governor at this time.According to Josephus, this in in 6 c.e. Hi Jason, your reputation precedes you.
In Luke 9:3, Jesus clearly tells His disciples not to take a lot of things, including "staves" (plural). In Mark 6:8 and 9, Jesus tells them the same things, but tells them to take "one staff" (singular). Jesus was telling them not to take multiple staves, but they were permitted to take one. Here's one...
Did Jesus tell His disciples to take a staff or not?

God bless,
