I'm finishing up my Concept Paper and making sure the references are correct. Using Turabian, I plan to cite bible references in-text (i.e. John 5:13) and all other citations as endnotes. Everything I've read about Turabian (and other citation formats) on Bible citation it says I need to abbreviate the books of the Bible (i.e. Rev 20:19). My question is: can I use the full bible title for each reference rather than abbreviate?
Anyone know why the standard format is abbreviated titles? If I use the full book title for each reference will Journal Submissions kick it back?
I prefer the full title. No real reason other than personal preference.

Re: Question About Citing Bible Verses in Academic Articles
Post #2I don't know whether it would get kicked back at you or not. But my professors all demand that I follow Turabian to the letter and I would lose marks if I failed to do so. Therefore, I would abbreviate Bible verses as required regardless of your personal preference.
