Circumcision

Post by Rose2020 »

Why was and is it so important to so many?
Reading 1 Corinthians 7, verses 17-24, Paul regards it as unimportant. Far more important is obedience to God. He was speaking sense.

I always regard maiming the body in any way as horrible. Being of an older generation I personally dislike piercings, tatoos and the like as repulsive and rarely enhancing to anyone's looks! That is another subject.
But circumcision is fascinating, it is done on a part of the body hardly anyone will ever see. How barbaric it is to do it to babies, inflict pain on them - unless for sound health reasons. Awful for grown boys or men.

However, the symbolism of it is very important to Jews and Muslims. Why?

The short answer is becase God said so.
Why would God command something that harms?
“And do you think that unto such as you
A maggot-minded, starved, fanatic crew
God gave a secret, and denied it me?
Well, well—what matters it? Believe that, too!”
