Jesus prediction to return

Matthew 16 , verses 24 to 28.

In verse 28 Jesus says He will return within the lifetime of that generation. But that has not happened. What do we make of this?

First of all where do you get this idea that the messiah is to die and come back?

Look, you learned of the Jewish messiah from the Jews. It vibes from the Hebrew Scriptures. Christians have turned him into a personal savior who will die for their sins.
And Christians say they believe in God. They may believe IN him. But they don’t believe him. God said our sins are own. That one can’t die for the sins of another.

Then Christians (who can’t read Hebrew) uphold the King James Bible and septugiant as THE TRUTH. The Jews aren’t blind. They just refuse to accept the mistranslated bibles.

The truth of Christianity depends on the mistrabslations, omissions and passages taken out of context. If forced to use the original Hebrew thee religion would fail.

Whatever passage/s that has people believe in Jesus isn’t based on the truth. It’s based on a lie. And guess what? One can show a Christian the lies and mistrabslations and they won’t care to hear it. They like the lies because the point to Jesus. Truth…. They dont want any part of it.

Take up his cross? You think he said that huh?
When Jesus supposedly said that his disciples would NIT have understood it. Why? Because Jesus hadn’t mentioned he was going to die. No where in scripture dies it say the messiah will die. That’s why when Jesus announced it peter said No. this shall not be unto thee.

So telling them to pick up their crosses meant nothing to them. That’s if he even said it
If the messiah were to die is a different topic to if they saw the kingdom of God come.

But I agree, the Jews did not talk about the messiah suffering and dying. There are verses that talk about the son suffering and dying. Some try to interpret Isa 53 as Israel, like when it says he suffered our pains and bore our sorrows. Other try to say it is about the gentiles. Some Rabbis said it was about this or that prophet, which is interesting because they saw it can be about 1 person.

Targum Jonathan says it is about Messiah.

It was the common Jewish believe that Messiah would be some earthly king and superman, but that was not God's plan. God gave the Jews are chance with their earthly kings and kingdom to bring the glory of God to men and they failed. They never amounted to much of anything, so God came himself with his heavenly kingdom to do it right, and that light shined to all nations.

An interesting interpretation.

Yet Jesus healed all, preached love, gave us the Sermon on the Mount, suffered for us a terrible death, preached forgiveness, drove out evil spirits who had tormented people. Everything Jesus did was good.
I will follow Him.
Who will you follow?
