Can you show that these verses are really scientific declarations?

Post #5The verses are truth claims. Science is a method for ascertaining what is true. So, if the Bible is true, it will match what we know using science. The Tanager wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 10:33 am [Replying to Compassionist in post #3]

Post #6But are these verses meant as scientific teachings or do the work off of the understandings of the day to make a point about something else?Compassionist wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 6:04 pmThe verses are truth claims. Re: 40 scientific inaccuracies from the Bible
Post #7"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16,17, The Bible (NIV). If the Bible is indeed authored by an all-knowing and all-powerful God, we should expect all its verses to be true. Because all the verses in the Bible are clearly not true, I conclude that an all-knowing and all-powerful God did not author the Bible. Ignorant people wrote the Bible and falsely claimed that it is "God-breathed".The Tanager wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 6:17 pmBut are these verses meant as scientific teachings or do the work off of the understandings of the day to make a point about something else?Compassionist wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 6:04 pmThe verses are truth claims. Re: 40 scientific inaccuracies from the Bible
Post #8Yes, to be true in what it is trying to teach. Thus, you need to show these verses are trying to teach scientific truths rather than using understandings of the day to make points about something else. The verse you quoted doesn't say anything about teaching science. It says the focus is for teaching and training in righteousness. We don't need to have perfect scientific knowledge for righteousness to occur. [This, in no way, disparages science, as it is a very helpful and important part of life within the Christian tradition historically, although sections of Christians have, unfortunately, been anti-science.]Compassionist wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 6:25 pm"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16,17, The Bible (NIV). Re: 40 scientific inaccuracies from the Bible
Post #9Either the Bible is true or it is false. Either the Bible is the words of God or it is the words of people. If the Bible was true, it would have matched what we know using the scientific method. Since it doesn't, I conclude that it is false. If an all-knowing and all-powerful being authored the Bible, we would find it to be truthful from the first verse to the last. Since the Bible is full of inaccuracies and contradictions, I conclude that an all-knowing and all-powerful God did not author it.The Tanager wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 9:24 amYes, to be true in what it is trying to teach. The morality offered in the Bible is hypocritical and unjust. God claims to be love yet God's words and actions are the opposite of love.

Re: 40 scientific inaccuracies from the Bible
Post #10So, a text has to address every single piece of knowledge in order to be true? If that's the case, then every text is false. Your conclusions rely on the Bible (in part) being a scientific treatise. The Bible is not a scientific treatise. You may disagree, but you haven't shown support for treating it as a scientific treatise. Therefore, your conclusions is unsupported and unreasonable.Compassionist wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 11:57 amEither the Bible is true or it is false. As far as judging the morality of the Bible to be unjust and unloving, on what objective basis do you do that?
