Indictment case judge

Post by Athetotheist »

Trump's indictment case has been given to a judge who was appointed by the defendant.*

https://www.npr.org/2023/06/09/11813108 ... indictment

Should this judge recuse herself for her glaring conflict of interest in this case?

*As I understand it, she could be setting the trial date. Would it be before or----conveniently----after the '24 election?

No. Any procedures that call on people to self-report their bias and excuse themselves will end up increasing the bias in the outcome of those procedures, because they favour people who will never report that they have bias or conflict of interest.

All procedures that strive to exile bias from themselves should have someone other than the potentially biased person make the determination.

No , presumptions are not factual , you're assuming that she will rule in favour of Trump meaning that she is not fulfilling her legal requirements because of bias , when she can actual do the opposite . She should recuse herself if its clear to that she is not reconsidering the oppositions information or is very harsh with them . For now we should see how it will play out and judge her based on her actions .

She was appointed by the defendant. That's a clear conflict of interest and judicial law requires recusal in such cases. There is no way for such a judge to be above suspicion of ruling in such a defendant's favor due to bias. That's why recusal is necessary.

Look at how much their POTUS himself gave away to strike a deal so his "Republican friends" wouldn't crash the economy over the debt ceiling.
House republicans are screaming in outrage that Biden so easily outsmarted Kevin McCarthy.

Not now. Biden acted to bring down gas prices after the pandemic ended. And he was refilling the strategic reserves that he tapped to help moderate gas prices. He sold oil when it was high, and is now buying it when it's lower. The oil companies yelled foul at first, but no one really paid any attention to them.

The point being......what? That stabilizing gas prices is more important than addressing the dire and immediate climate crisis?

Oh, the profound wisdom of neoliberal economics.......

Stabilized gas prices, made a profit for the government in the process.

Apparently, there weren't enough Teslas to go around. Not sure that our electric generation capacity would have been adequate even if there were. So you put out the fires before you convert the system.

Applied General Systems Theory. Hated that course, but it taught me a lot of mathematical means for arriving at common sense solutions.

Yep. The first job at hand in a fire is to put it out. But dealing with the factors that changed the climate to make fires more likely should be next.
