THE FUTURE

Post by onewithhim »

Haven't we all, at one time or another, wondered what the future will be like? Experts of men have had a spotty reputation as most of their predictions have proved untrue.

What does the Bible tell us? "The God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed....It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever." (Daniel 2:44, Revised Standard Version)

Is this good news? Of course, when we realize what God's Kingdom is. It is a real government that will replace all of the existing governments on the earth and stand forever. Stability and order will be brought to people on the earth. What will life be like under this government?

NO MORE WAR (Psalm 46:9)
NO MORE SICKNESS (Isaiah 33:24)
NO MORE FOOD SHORTAGE (Psalm 72:16)
NO MORE PAIN, SORROW AND DEATH (Revelation 21:4)

These are just some of the promises made in the Bible about God's Kingdom, and there are more. God has promised all these wonderful things for the future. All righteously inclined people can avail themselves of these promises. Does this sound good to you?

God designed mankind to die!

No He did not! The only reason Adam died was because he turned his back on God and wanted to do his own thing.
Adam could not have died if God had created him as a spiritual bodied being.

He was made lower that the angels so that he could die if he sinned.
Oh yes Adam could have died even as a spirit. You insist that spirits can't die, but that isn't the truth. When Paul wrote to Timothy he said of Jesus that he was the ONLY one who had immortality.
Jesus gained an inheritance of everlasting life by living a sinless human life under the Old Testament Covenant. He was the only human to ever do so, thus He alone hath a immortality as an inheritance under that covenant.
onewithhim wrote: Sun Apr 07, 2024 5:26 pm It is very obvious that the demons could indeed die because they were not immortal. (I Timothy 6:16) And since they can die, the consigning of them to the lake of fire is symbolic of eternal DEATH.
1 Timothy 6:16
King James Version
Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

This is referring to humans. Jesus is the only human heir to everlasting life under the original covenant.

Spirits live forever:

And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us (God and the angels), to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. (Genesis 3:22-23)

Speaking of those who shall inherit the spiritual Kingdom of God, Jesus states:

Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. (Luke 20:36)

Angels are spirits which cannot die.

Malachi 3:18 infers that you do not know "righteousness" from "wickedness", so how are you defining that you are among the "righteous", and not among the "wicked"/lawless? Do you want to expand on that concept? You also seem to gloss over the concept that before the "son of man" returns, you have the great tribulation (Matthew 24:29-31)(Rev 16:16). As you are not "on Mount Zion", or in "Jerusalem", how is that you think you are going to "survive"/"escape (Joel 2:30-32)? Is there no lie to be found on your lips? (Revelation 14:5)

I disagree. No, it is not referring to just humans. It includes every intelligent person or spirit being. It does not say that it only refers to humans. (If Jesus is now a spirit then his bodily makeup can address all other beings similar to himself as well as humans. Spirits were also indicated in the Scripture at I Timothy 6:16.)

It is actually refering to only one human -- Jesus Christ:

I Timothy 6:

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

No other human being has ever lived a sinless life. I am going by what is actually written. Jesus is the only one to have immortality, period. Spirits can die and Satan and his demons certainly will. They are sinful and the wages of sin is DEATH, NOT LIFE.

Jesus is the only one to qualify as an heir to everlasting life under the Old Testament Covenant. The wages of sin is death, but He never sinned, thus He is an heir to everlasting immortal life under that covenant. That is what is written.

But the Old Testament Covenant has now been replaced by the New Testament Covenant.

Under the currently active covenant between God and mankind, one has to believe in Jesus as their Savior from the wages of their sins to hath immortality.

Every believer in Jesus hath an inheritance of immortality along with Jesus at this time:

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ ... (Romans 8:16-17)

So the scriptures confirm that many humans now have immortality awaiting them. Jesus is no longer the only one who hath immortality.

Onewithhim claims that only Christ hath immortality.

As always, I'll side with God. You are wrong again. I suppose there is some value in consistency.

God is a spirit and cannot die.

Believers in Jesus will be born again of the Spirit as spirits because that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. That is how believers gain everlasting life. If spiritual bodied beings can die as you claim, then it does believers no good to be born again of the Spirit as spirits.

There are two type of bodies, natural and spiritual.

If natural and spiritual bodies can both die, then no living being anywhere can be safe from dying -- and the word immortal becomes meaningless!

The wages of sin is death, but death does not apply to immortal spirits. That is why believers must be born again of the Spirit, as spirits, to gain everlasting life and thus be incapable of dying the second death which is the wages for our sins!

Again, God did not create spirits to have immortality, and we know this because of I Timothy 6:16. Humans may live forever on this earth after the Great Tribulation and Armageddon and the Thousand Year reign of Christ and his immortal co-rulers. (His co-rulers are the only Christians who need to be anointed with Holy Spirit to live in the spirit realm.)

The spirit realm is the only immortal realm.

God put an age limit of 120 years on the age of any one man.
