What is "Worship"?

Generally when the phrase "Worship God" is expressed, the idea of what that means is reflected in the image above.

Is there any underlying agreement which can be identified to answer the question "What is Worship of God?"?

Worship of God is giving Him all the veneration and respect that He deserves, as the one true God. "Worship" of others denotes respect for others in high positions, such as kings, governors, judges...but not the same worship as we give to God. It is only He that is the Most High and deserves all of the worship that we can give to Him as our God. (Psalm 83:18, KJV) Jesus was "worshipped," but only as receiving high esteem from people, and not as God.

Jesus said to Satan (quoting from Deuteronomy 10:20,21; 11:1): "It is written, 'It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.'"

So, the highest "worship" goes to YHWH the only true God. Other people would get "worship" that means merely great respect.

The person is apparently at some gathering to pay homage to something or someone. Perhaps singing too? Both are forms of worship. The book of Psalms holds many songs for worship. The Bible also notes many times that even gathering together in the court yard of the temple during festivals was considered worship.

Worldwide, as far as every person on the earth? No. Not as long as humans look to other humans to set the standards on how to worship. There are those that look to their clergy on how to worship, there are those that look to themselves, and then there are those who's worship standards are outlined by tradition.

If so, what are these, and why are they acceptable as "Worship of God"?

There are those that look to their clergy on how to worship, there are those that look to themselves, and then there are those who's worship standards are outlined by tradition.
