Mark 16:18

From here:'
Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

I'm interested to see how many relgious folks have tried the above.

Does the term 'serpent' mean snake? If so does it mean dangerous/venomous snakes? Who's tried this one?

Who's tried that poison deal?

As a Christian, only the third option. Although once when I was younger, I took a mouthful of fermented orange juice, not realising it was off. I didn't get sick and at the time thought about that verse.

Oh and I did get to hold a python in Australia. But I believe that verse relates more to the venemous variety of snake.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

My brother held a 6-foot rat snake once.

I drink Pepsi quite frequently.

But I've never laid hands on a sick person.

Where does that put me? :P

Ah, but how long have you been drinking it? You start off in small doses and gradually build up from there over a long period of time. You've probably developed a natural immunity to it.

I usually consume it in 12-ounce increments, interspersed with an occasional 44-ounce shot. Is that enough to build up an immunity?

I hope so, because then I can explain to my mom that I'm immune to Pepsi. :D

The FDA does not classify Pepsi as a poison.

I do notice we have a verification that the Bible considers serpents to be snakes.
