The athlete or the coach or the judge?
Can any creature really score a perfect 10?
Well even I am going to pause to consider that metaphor for the trinity.
Who do you cheer for?

This is what we (many) do, but should we? Do you think Jesus came to seek glory for himself? Or to glorify the Father.Wootah wrote: Actually this thread began in my mind as a response thread to why do some Christians seem to worship Jesus more than the Father especially when Jesus did worship the Father.
I realised that we cheer the athlete or actor not the coach or the director and it is Jesus that saves us.
Then i realised that there was a metaphor in there for the trinity.
Athlete - Jesus
Coach - Holy Spirit
Judge - Father
Is the Father only a judge? Or does your metaphor allow for Him to be "Father" as well.
My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

"According to the Christian Gospels the Father is not the judge. Jesus is the judge.
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son"
Exactly. The Word/Truth/two-edged-sword.
But Truth can not act alone, it acts from Love.
As above so bellow, don't we do the same?

Mind you, perhaps it depends on which race you were referring to.

Post #15The differences are clear, and vast; isn't that the point?Elijah John wrote:He is completely "other"? Even Paul said to Pagans regarding God, "in him we live and move and have our being". Collective "we", believers and would-be believers alike.Checkpoint wrote: [Replying to post 5 by Overcomer]
God is not complicated, we are.The fact that God is more complicated than anything in his creation really doesn't surprise me at all.
He is different; He is other.
He is Spirit, we are flesh.
Also, we are not entirely flesh, right?

Post #16Given that the athlete, the coach, and the judge are all the same person (according to the theory of the trinity), it wouldn't matter. I could bet on any of them and rightfully demand a payout. The judge of course would make sure that he won. If he won, they'd all win. A perfect trifecta.

I'm not convinced this is fitting metaphor for the trinity as my understanding is that all three person's in the trinity are distinct and different, but all co-equal. .
However the athlete obeys the instructions of the coach, and a judge would have authority over both coach and athlete. I believe most Trinitarian would accept that this is not presently the balance of power that exists today even if they claim that was the situation in the past. So at best a Trinitarian might suggest athlete, coach and judge two thousand years ago but today no individual in the trinity can thus be described.

That is what it says and I agreed. The gospel how ever is NOT to the Messianic Communities/Christian church..The gospel is TO Israel. Yeshua Himself said so, the one you quote says this;Divine Insight wrote:According to the Christian Gospels the Father is not the judge. John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
Mat 15:24 He said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Isra'el." ( the word only !! )
You point is valid BUT it is the Father who appoints the Son the right to judge, as He is th eone to be sacrificed for us. Yeshua is given the work of judging..So why do you bring this issue up anyway ?
there is no christian church yet at this time, it is hidden, it is a secret ..

Great verse. I'm fine with your conterexample in relation to my metaphor it doesn't affect it, but it is well worth asking how on Earth an 'only a man creature' would be allowed to be the judge.Divine Insight wrote:According to the Christian Gospels the Father is not the judge. edit: Even if Jesus is the final judge while Jesus was alive the Father was the standard for Jesus.

I think it's a 'vicious circle'. We are amazed at the judge then amazed at the son for trying to meet that standard then amazed at the coach for getting the son off to a good start then amazed at the judge for such a high standard and then amazed at the son for such a good effort to meet it then amazed at the coach for the next difficult step. and so on.Elijah John wrote:This is what we (many) do, but should we?
