Post #52Regarding the question of whether the old law was "good" please see my post with the illustration of the CAST to protect a broken bone until it heals. Here is the LINK --> viewtopic.php?p=1153893#p1153893
- Do you think I have properly addressed the idea of something being GOOD but TEMPORARY ?

Post #54I think your idea is fine, but i don't think there is enough Biblical reason to think it fits to the law.JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 11:18 am

Post #56There is enough Biblical reason. It is described as temporary.1213 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 5:09 amI think your idea is fine, but i don't think there is enough Biblical reason to think it fits to the law.JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 11:18 am

"Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness." (Romans 10:4)
"Do not you people be owing anybody a single thing, except to love one another; for he that loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law." (Romans 13:8)
"For the Law code, 'you must not commit adultery, you must not murder, you must not steal, you must not covet,' and whatever other commandment there is, is summed up in this word, namely, 'You must love your neighbor as yourself.' Love does not work evil to one's neighbor; therefore love is the Law's fulfillment." (Romans 13:9,10)
"Why, then, the Law? It was added to make transgressions manifest, until the seed should arrive to whom the promise has been made....Consequently the Law has become our tutor leading to Christ, that we might be declared righteous due to faith. But now that the faith has arrived, we are no longer under a tutor." (Galatians 3:19, 24)
"The entire Law stands fulfilled in one saying, namely: 'You must love your neighbor as yourself.'" (Galatians 5:14)
"For since the Law has a shadow of the good things to come, but not the very substance of the things, men can never with the same sacrifices from year to year which they offer continually make those who approach perfect....By these sacrifices there is a reminding of sins from year to year, for it is not possible for the blood of bulls and of goats to take sins away." (Hebrews 10:1,3)
"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances [the Law] that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.." (Colossians 2:14, KJV)

Re: SABBATH...
Post #57Regardless of the "it" you think needs defining, Paul is explaining Jeremiah 31 verse 33, where God says " I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts ", whatever he said is the correct understanding and application of the verse.
Paul directly quotes Jeremiah 31 and explains its application for Christians. Do you not think what an inspired bible writer CHOSEN BY JESUS to explain and teach, said about "writing the law on hearts" is the key to understanding the expression in question?

What exactly does not "fit to the law"
So again, what exactly does not "fit to the law"?Was the Mosaic law good and useful (like a cast) ? Romans 7:7
Did the Mosaic law have a purpose? What was that purpose? (like a cast) Galatians 3: 24
Does the bible say that law would be permanent or temporary? (like a cast) Hebrews 8: 7, 13

Post #59I meant, I don't think there is enough Biblical reason to say the law was only temporary and it is not anymore valid.JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 11:12 am1213 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 5:09 amI think your idea is fine, but i don't think there is enough Biblical reason to think it fits to the law.JehovahsWitness wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2024 11:18 am

Post #60Jesus said: "until heaven and earth pass away". I think it means also something.onewithhim wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2024 9:06 am ....
Jesus said the Law would be fulfilled by him, which he did. He said the Law wouldn't pass away until "all things are accomplished." He did that. All things were accomplished when he died on the stake.
