Why did Christ not indicate advances?

Post by marco »

A super-intelligent being walks around but doesn't correct misconceptions or scientific untruths. He sees lepers but doesn't suggest any cure, except prayer. He left it to other clever people to advance human knowledge.

Was he educated in anything but Scripture?

Did he know the Earth orbits the sun, and was he aware that imparting this simple fact would have saved lives?

Or was he just a preacher, rumoured to have healing powers?

This illustrates how Christianity has its savage face.
Yes, and does it also address the question I was asked?

Which was ...

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that debating involved addressing the points raised to the person that raised them. The random posting of unrelated points is of no more interest than being asked to prove that the sun is hot, and upon doing so being told that Angela Jolie is divorcing Brad Pitt. True, but irrelevant.

If you feel I have in some way made the above point and therefore need to address this point to *me* would you be so kind as to quote or point that post out.

You answered the question put to you. Your answer ALSO illustrates the further point I am making. Well done!

You seem overly troubled that you may have answered the question put to you incorrectly. No, you didn't; you gave examples of how Christianity has displayed brutality, thus causing other Christians to die for what they imagined was truth.

Discussion involves taking answers that have been given and commenting upon their ramifications. Lots of threads go on and on as a result of this. So no need to feel you should be corrected. Your answer was a good one, although it probably produced a negative side you hadn't anticipated. Ergo marco's comment.
