Magic and god

Post by connermt »

Blaine.
Angel.
Cooperfield.
Magicians. They do 'tricks' that stun and amaze many people.
God/jesus did the same type of things.
So are they nothing more than magicians?
Let's compare:
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield/jesus = human
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield/jesus = doing actions that surprise and impress certain (though not all) viewers
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield/jesus = men
Let's contrast:
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield = alive jesus = dead
Blaine/Angel/Cooperfield = verifiable in the real world jesus = unverifiable

It sure seems god can be called nothing more than a magician. Is that true, or is it something else?
How do we know this?

They can try their best to imitate miracles. There's Houdini, Criss Angel etc. You can't convince me that it's a miracle. You need to travel before coming to a conclusion because i'm 100% real evil magic exists in Nigeria. When a person's head goes flying off in a village conflict and the other person has bullets hitting him with no effect then you know it's real. You should go there sometime, it'll enlighten you on the difference between illusion and magic.

You win.....I won't be able to convince you even though I wasn't trying to but if you truly believe that these things happening in Nigeria are real, then debating with you is useless. Seriously, are you listening to yourself? This is going to sound rude and I am sorry but you are delusional

That's coming from a person who has never seen it so duh, why do you expect him to believe it.
And you know they don't want to believe when they start talking about delusions.
Just because that's your reality doesn't mean it's reality.

Okay.....you don't think this would be worldwide news when someone is not affected by bullets hitting him or when someone's head goes flying off in a conflict. Poor old James Randi would be bankrupt by now having to pay his million dollars to Superman. Do you perhaps have a link where I can read up on this or even some pictures or a video would do?

World wide news in a village where the first non-indigene seen is beheaded and the police have their limbs seperated from their bodies? Good luck getting a news crew down there and coming out alive. Tell me how it goes or not.

It is. I meant I DON'T HAVE A FAITH HEALER. That's what i meant.
Hi Sizzle....

I normally just lurk on here and read all the posts and replies but when the topic of magic and illusions come up, then I cannot help but to jump right in. For the record, I do magic or illusions as a hobby and believe me when I tell you that TB Joshua is a fake and has been exposed as one. The fact that you and many others believe in his abilities doesn't make it real or true.

Maybe one day, you can visit me in South Africa and watch me turn water into wine and I'll even walk on water too. You can make a Youtube video of it and as a special favour, I will levitate for you as well.
Real or not, I'd like to see that video!
When it's posted, lemme know
Hahahahaha....you make me laugh and I really enjoy your posts on this forum. Divine Insight is another poster that makes this site very welcome. As for the magic on video, the point I was trying to make to Sizzle is that these "miracles" are very easy to replicate with a bit of preparation, misdirection and sleight of hand. The water to wine for instance, I have taken a bit further and made 4 different drinks out of one jug of water.
I got your point. All kidding aside, I'd really like to see your trick!
To the point of the thread, it seems when a person does something, it's 'a trick' or 'magic', but when god does it, it's some sort of grand miracle for the ages!
To me, it shows a biasness towards one's belief and not reality.

You can't make a point about miracles and illusion being the same.
And yet, that is just what happened....weird....
Miracles are not magic or things done for entertainment.
Prove it
Even Jesus Christ refused to perform a miracle when He was asked to do it to prove Himself.
Maybe he left his top hat and rabbit at home...?
What people called miracles through out history have, many times, been shown to be very ordinary.

I am just an amateur and not famous at all....well, the kids love me for my magic tricks but I am just your ordinary, down to earth, hardworking and happily married father of three daughters. My magic / illusions are just a hobby. If I ever make a video one day, I will definitely post it. The levitation trick is quite amazing though.

First of prove that there was any hat like that in the time of Jesus?
When was the last time you visited Nigeria?
Just because you don't want to see it doesn't mean it's not there.
