Yes, I take it literally, @Diogenes, for four reasons:
1. The New Testament confirms it: "Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith."
Faith is a mechanism in order to believe that false things are true.
To illustrate:
Want to believe in Allah? Faith
Fairies? Faith
Loch Ness monster? Faith
Aliens? Faith
Perhaps you should try reason.
2. The only way I can explain the Grand Canyon is according to the Bible's description of the Great Flood, when God uses it to create that chasm.
I acknowledge that you don't understand how the Grand Canyon formed and that you instead credit a god concept for it. It is common throughout all of known human history to credit the gods or spirits for the unknown. Until it becomes known of course, then we no longer need Thor to explain thunder.
3. The history if the Bible is compressed, ancient history, which describes true history with a point to make and selects certain events to give us spiritual truths.
The Old Testament is the history of the Jews, and some of it even happened if you ask the Jews. The Bible is not a history book though, your claim is empty.
4. You seem to look at the Bible through the lens of science, whereas I look at science through the lens of the Bible, as Psalm 19:1,7 indicates: "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork....The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple."
I acknowledge this and see it as a reason for why you do not understand geology like you demonstrated.
You can give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day, or you can teach a man to pray for fish and he will starve to death.
I blame man for codifying those rules into a book which allowed superstitious people to perpetuate a barbaric practice. Rules that must be followed or face an invisible beings wrath. - KenRU

If you are unable to demonstrate that what you believe is true and you absolve yourself of the burden of proof, then what is the purpose of your arguments? - brunumb
