The origin of matter

Post by marke »

If God did not create original matter then did matter create itself? Do those who reject faith in God believe original matter was once concentrated in a physically small but extremely compact ball of matter that has always existed without beginning?

Modern science postulates that matter is eternal and can neither be added to or destroyed, only re-arranged. There is no evidence for this, it is just what scientists "believe", pretty much like little children who believe in Santa Clause because their professor of science said so.

Are you arguing that the method of doing things, that we call science, SHOULD claim that matter can be created and destroyed? If so, please explain why.
If you are not claiming this, well... then I find your complaining odd. Something a child might do if you think about it.

Actually, modern science is a demonstrably reliable method for investigating proposed hypotheses and mitigates for confirmation bias by requiring those claims to be falsifiable. The hypothesis that matter is neither created nor destroyed is a falsifiable claim. As such, scientists continue to design and conduct experiments that are intended to produce the evidence they would expect to find if this hypothesis is false. The hypothesis remains tentatively accepted within the scientific community because it continues to survive all such critical tests, not because any scientists dogmatically hold the belief.

As for the claim about the existence of a god, are you able to describe a reliable method we can use to determine if that hypothesis is false or will you concede it is unfalsifiable?

To all respondents,

I find this topic interesting and exciting to say the least! This is a topic that all of us have limited depth of knowledge and understanding. Many ideas on explanations are based on theory, speculation or otherwise.

For one to expound on the creation of matter one would first need to have clear insights into such a process. Not finite, but rather infinite in depth of all things pertaining thereto. As I see it, the Bible has provided very limited knowledge and details relating to the creation of this earth for example. It appears that there is a propensity for a great many to spe3w forth their private interpretations on most any Bible topic.

Let us examine by a very simple illustration: If we draw a line, we observe a beginning and an end. If we use a circle one cannot find a beginning or an end.

1. Are the elements finite or infinite and eternal?

2. Is God the Father finite or infinite and ETERNAL?

3. Is God our Father sovereign over this entire universe?

4. Does he know all things? Have control and dominion over all things in this universe? Has control over planetry orbits with their rotational speeds and their determined locations?

5. On this earth for example, consider the dynamic effects of ocean tidal currents and flow intensity and how catastrophic the tide levels would rise if the moon were to move it's orbital distance much closer to the earth?

6. I will comment that God the Father and Christ both will be exalted to more glory as part of their eternal progression. This is made very clear in the Bible.

7. Now let us touch on the elements and their eternal nature.

8. Do the elements contain a level of intelligence?

9. If they do not have a level of intelligence, then can you clearly explain how they are capable of "obeying" the commands of the master creator?

10. A few biblical incidents my give insight into this principle such as Christ turning water into wine, Calming the storm tossed sea to save the ship and passengers aboard, giving sight to the blind, healing Lepers, raising the dead, blessing a few fishes and laves of bread to feed the 5000, etc.

11. Does this clearly show his soverign position as the master over the elements, the universe, his position and the master physician who is also the master scientist, master mathematician as master builder, etc.

12. If the elements do not have some degree of intelligence then may I ask, How can the rivers obey and change course? How can mountains be moved at his command?

13. I submit that ALL of us are in a very infant level of our spiritual, scientific and creational understandings.

The hypothesis that matter is neither created nor destroyed is a falsifiable claim. If the creation or destruction of matter were ever to be demonstrated, then the hypothesis would be falsified. Until then, the falsifiable hypothesis remains tentatively accepted within the scientific community and not because any scientists dogmatically hold the belief.

As for the claim about the existence of a god, are you able to describe a reliable method we can use to determine if that hypothesis is false or will you concede it is unfalsifiable?
