What is meant by the following two verses?
Jesus said of Himself, "I am the Light of the world."
And Christians are called "The children of the light."
The light of the world

Re: The light of the world
Post #31What? Can't you answer a few simple questions without bellyaching? All I asked for was a yes or no. I need to know who and what I'm dealing with. Your "No" to question 1 tells me enough about you to say this: you will never, ever understand end-time prophecy if you think the Lord would send his bride into the greatest catastrophe this world will ever witness. How bad will it be? Matthew 24:22, "Except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved."Mr E wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2026 4:27 pm [Replying to placebofactor in post #29]
Again, this isn't about my opinions and beliefs, but yours. If you have a premise, present it and then support it. Folks will weigh whether they agree with you, or not.Give me a yes or no to start with.
1. Do you believe in the Rapture?
2. If you believe in the Rapture, do you believe it will occur before or after the "Time of Jacob's trouble, also called the "Great Tribulation?"
3. Do you believe there is a future antichrist?
4. Do you believe that every prophecy has to have a start and end point? One that can be proven with the Bible or with history?
5. Do you believe God is done with Israel?
6. Do you believe May 14, 1948, is the blossoming of the "fig tree" of Matthew 24:32?
You seem to be itching for a platform, rather than a conversation. A pulpit instead of a discussion. Yet you start dozens of threads, begging the question so I've taken up an effort to engage with you and provide you with ample opportunities to elaborate on your views.
Brother, if you have an itch.... scratch it. I'll even indulge your need to question me beforehand, but I do have to ask-- is agreement some sort of prerequisite for dialogue?
1. No
2. N/A
3. Yes-- past, present and future
4. Yes and No. Does a circle have a start and end point?
5. No, nor with any of us.
6. No

And it's as expected. You can't fathom a conversation with someone who might disagree with your limited perspective.
Have a nice day.

1. Christ Himself is Immanuel, God with us all the time; hence, Christ is beside you/me/them all the time, though we do not see Him yet. In the absence of the Son of God, per se, Jesus Christ remains with us always because He is the Almighty God who came in the flesh - the flesh of the Son of God, per se, the man who was born of Mary, during His incarnation. Therefore, the absent is the Son of God, per se, the man who was Jesus' physical vessel in His incarnation.
2. Never did the Lord Jesus Christ identify the scriptures as the Light in His stead. The Lord identified the scriptures as testimonies to Him that He is real and forever living. Why would you replace the Lord Jesus Christ with the scriptures to give light to the people across all generations?
Sorry placebofactor, but this notion is not true; this is a lie on two counts: 1. In the absence of Christ, and 2. His place is taken by the light of Scriptures. In the absence of Christ, His place is taken by the light of Scriptures.

King David said, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.' This is a line of the lyrics of the song that King David composed; hence, your phrase, 'His place is taken by the Light of the Scirptures' is just your own opinion in this issue of 'Jesus, the Light of the world.' The phrase 'Your word' always refers to the words that the Lord God utters at any time, not the scriptures, per se, which you only opine.Psalms 119:125, "A lamp unto our feet," and a light unto our paths. The words of prophecy are as a light shining in a dark place; and as we grow in the word, it is by the light of a lamp.

Never said Jesus was not the Almighty; never said he was not born of Mary, so stop lying about things I never said. As for the rest of your comments, yes, Jesus the Christ is beside me through His Comforter, the Holy Spirit.
Now, if you can read and comprehend, consider the following words of Jesus Christ himself.
John 14:2-3, Jesus said, "In my Father's house, there are many mansions. ---- I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL COME AGAIN and receive you to myself; that WHERE I AM, there you may be also.
Then he said, John 14:26, "When the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things,"
Then Jesus Christ said, John 15:26, "But when the comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, HE SHALL TESTIFY OF ME."
Then Jesus the Christ said, John 16:13, "When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall NOT SPEAK OF HIMSELF; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come."
Acts 1:9-10: Forty days after his resurrection, we find Jesus with his disciples standing on the Mount of Olives. He is ready to return to his place in heaven, the place from where he came. Now the question: "Did Jesus leave the earth, return to heaven, and then send the Holy Spirit to us?"
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!
Acts 1:9-10, "And when he (Jesus) had said these things, HE WAS TAKEN UP; AND A CLOUD RECEIVED HIM OUT OF THEIR SIGHT." Verse 11, "This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in the same way as you have seen him go into heaven." Zachariah 14:1-4 gives us the time of his return
"Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, --- verse 2, I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, ---- verse 3, "Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against hose nations," verse 4, "And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem ---."
Now that's the true story, not the nonsense you are trying to sell.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
It's not about the flesh, neither the flesh of the bride nor the flesh of the son. Can you see? To die physically, is to be born again spiritually.
How do you miss it?you will never, ever understand end-time prophecy if you think the Lord would send his bride into the greatest catastrophe this world will ever witness.

True, but the world doesn't love him. I think you had better do an in-depth study on the "Wrath of God." He wiped the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah off the face of the earth because of their sin of Homosexuality. He had 70,000 killed because David numbered his troops; thousands of Israelites died because they challenged Moses' authority. He had all the firstborn of the Egyptians killed. My advice: get straight with the LORD before it's too late. And when the days of Jacob's trouble come, you will find him, Revelation 19:13, "clothed with a vesture dipped in blood:" That is the blood of his enemies.

Good grief. Put down the "Left Behind" series and come to grips.
As an observation-- You are not the interpreter of scripture for anyone but yourself. You are free to do so for yourself and what you will produce is a set of beliefs. Your beliefs. Everyone else may do the same.
When you insert your interpretations into scripture (vis a vis those parentheses you are so found of) all you are doing is superimposing your beliefs into and onto scripture. Don't. Don't lean to your own understanding and don't insist that others see it the way you do in order to rise from sitting at your feet for the honor of a conversation with you. That I'm only the second person to broach this subject with you means that there has only been one other person who loved you enough to bother. Get more friends.

Post #39Never read the "Left Behind series." I did see several for sale in a "Thrift store" selling for 50 cents apiece. Smart people ask questions, and don't criticize or applaud others until they have heard them out. But I would expect that from you. I'm beginning to understand why churches are emptying out, and why Paul wrote, "Because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved."Mr E wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2026 11:42 am [Replying to placebofactor in post #37]

ya, okay. And the truth is (always) in brackets.I'm beginning to understand why churches are emptying out, and why Paul wrote, "Because they receive not the love of the truth, that they might be saved."
