I have posted what I think is the single most important issue to debate.
To me, the second most important issue is this. If there is a God, how do I determine what God requires of me? If your answer involves something that is from human agency, a book or an organization, then the question remains, "How do I know that the book's authors or the organization's leaders authoritatively speak for God?"
How do I determine what God requires of me?

How do I determine what God requires of me?
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
If you do what Jesus asks you to do, you will know what God requires of you.
How will you know?
You will just know, but the doing part comes first, then latter the knowing part will follow. I can't explain how it works, I just know that it does.

Doing the best we can (in our little corner of the world) to help others, possibly change the lives of others in positive ways.
Loving and being responsible for our families.
These 'requirements' are rational, good, and sensible. I consider that God must be all of these things and require this from us.

allah told us that in his book ( quraan ) so you will never know that without reading (quraan) to know what allah what God (allah) requires of you ?
If you do what Jesus asks you to do, you will know what God requires of you
juses is a prophet just like mohammed peace be upon them all
allah sent the gospel to him to learn it to people
but people changed it and now there is so many books of gospel
then allah created mohammed peace be upon him to be the last prophet for this world
allah sent quraan to him to learn the people about allah and what allah requires of people

Re: How do I determine what God requires of me?
Post #5That is an unsatisfactory answer. How do I differentiate between other claims about what God wants me to do? How do you know that Jesus and not Muhammad is issuing the instructions from God?olavisjo wrote:If you do what Jesus asks you to do, you will know what God requires of you.

Good answer, except I really don't see how God is involved. I try to do my best anyway.justifyothers wrote:Handling to the best of our ability the opportunities and situations that present themselves in our daily lives.

You really did not even address the question. How do I know that the Qu'ran is what God (Allah) wants from me?CONVERTED TO ISLAM wrote:allah told us that in his book ( quraan ) so you will never know that without reading (quraan) to know what allah what God (allah) requires of you ?

Did Jesus die for me? How do you know? Why would his death be at all relevant?olavisjo wrote:Did Muhammad die for you?

My dear sweet baby boy...
Post #9God wants you to do...
Well, that will certainly depend on a few factors.
1. When were you born?
2. Where were you born?
3. How much did your father make in the past year?
With those three questions you should be able to determine what your god would like you to do. If that is of little help then perhaps you should travel around a bit and see what makes sense. After all, being born in India almost assures you to be Hindu and being born in Alabama almost assures you to be Southern Baptist. Why not broaden your knowledge and find out for yourself what you are? This is why religion will eventually fail. Good luck in your search...

Re: How do I determine what God requires of me?
Post #10It does for the most part come down to how reliable of a source the bible is. I have looked at it as a historical document and it has held its own. I have also given it the '747' test, ie 'does it fly?'McCulloch wrote: Did Jesus die for me? How do you know? Why would his death be at all relevant?
I have boarded big planes and flown thousands of miles safely even though I don't understand exactly how such a huge hunk of metal can cross the pacific but it does. The bible is like that, just do as it tells you to do and it never lets you down, the blinder your obedience to it, the better. (one main thing that it tells me to do is 'do no harm', so you don't have to kill infidels etc)
You were born with a death sentence on your head, and eventually time will carry out that sentence, when Jesus died for you he satisfied that sentence and gave you the opportunity to live forever.
I know that you have heard all this before, so what hinders you from giving your life to Jesus?
