Gay marriage

Post by inviere1644 »

Ok, as a moderate gay man I'm always interested to see what people on the liberal and conservative spectrums have to say about this issue. So, is it right or wrong? why or why not?

I accuse the Baron not of debate but of hate speech, pure and simple.
he's not not advocating violence as far I know, but hate speech nonetheless. Pure bigoted, otherizing, dehumanizing hate speech. Some stuff goes beyond, wrong, incorrect, poorly argued, unsupportbale, and is just obscene hate. I call him on it. J'accuse.

I am a college student who attended a Catholic high school for four years. I was taught in religion class that gay marriage was wrong because God made man and woman as compliments to each other and two men (or women, for that matter) together was unnatural. I am a firm believer, however, that people do not choose to be gay and that is the way they are born. We live this life on earth to be happy and if two people love each other they should be able to fulfill that happiness and love in a marriage despite their gender or sexuality.

Hey, and if we do live on this earth to be happy, for whose happiness do we live? If something makes me happy, (like killing your friend), but it doesn't make you happy, what should I do, that which makes me happy or you happy?

That is a good point. I still stand by my viewpoint that happiness and love are important aspects to obtain in this life, however a better way to put it may go hand in hand with the natural rights we are all born with as humans -- life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In other words, we cannot sacrifice other peoples happiness (or safety, etc.) for our own, or else we risk getting these natural rights taken away from us. In the case that two men want to marry because they are homosexual and love each other, they are not taking away anyone else's happiness, however they are pursuing their own happiness. Killing someone, on the other hand, goes against the natural rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...and taking away another individuals life or happiness for your own is unjust and wrong.

To please oneself depends greatly on which side you belong. A religious person might consider this line as a blasphemy; the truth is that even though one might try to please him or herself one must also check if what he does indeed does not offend another person and the supreme being.

Some persons may engage in vices and tell you that is what makes him happy. Just as defender of truth said; if he pleasure in killing then he can do same and be happy.

You tried to read the rights of a human and i respect that to a greater extent; but the truth of the matter is that gay marriage is against natural laws. Lets say we all became gays in 1900; what will be the population today? What a gay person does is deprive another life unborn not to exist. You have in the first place decided to break the law of procreation. Gay marriage to me is a selfish ordinance.

Natural law?? Can you show that "natural law' actually exists? Or is it just some people who are making their opinions seem to be more authoritative? Let's see you provide evidence that 'Natural Law' is something more than just the opinion of man.

I see you did provide a straw man. Not everyone is going to 'become gay'. Just like not everyone is going to become female, or everyone is going to become blond hair blue eyed.
“What do you think science is? There is nothing magical about science. It is simply a systematic way for carefully and thoroughly observing nature and using consistent logic to evaluate results. So which part of that exactly do you disagree with? Do you disagree with being thorough? Using careful observation? Being systematic? Or using consistent logic?

Natural law as regard the human anatomy and its functions. The vagina, penis and anus have distinct purposes. The vagina is the only natural vessel for the penetration of spermatozoa for fertility and procreation. The anus has no purpose other than excrements. It is indeed natural for the penetration of vagina by penis; the anus is not an anomaly that can be corrected via therapy.

Homosexuality is a wrong that has not be corrected over the years and it is gradually becoming a right (norm). Our defense on gay marriage is becoming a license for other innocent persons to have it as an acceptable choice. In my country Ghana, the gradual defense put forward by Human right activists and other key members of society is encouraging the gay persons come out of their shelves to spread the good-news.

So all oral sex is wrong? Also wearing glasses and using the nose to hold them up, or the ear to hold your pencil? using the voice to sing, that would be wrong?

You have over-simplified the issue at stake. Aside the oral sex the rest are inventions that makes like a bit comfortable. I practice oral sex but i will not defend it and say it is right. In fact, i will not wish my child to do same. We do not have to paint our flaws as pure and promote to our next generation.

Apparently you believe that our body parts have specific purposes, and it is for some reason immoral to use them for other than their intended purpose? Yes, I understand that these inventions make life more comfortable, but since they involve using the body for other than its intended purpose, aren't they wrong, in your view? So yes, you believe that oral sex is immoral? [but you do it anyway? Why would you persist in doing things that you believe to be immoral? Not that it's any of my business.]
