I will agree with that statement, although I would replace the term 'bigotry' , since making crude , rude and socially unacceptable comments about someone due to their religion, gender, sexual preference, or ethnic group is equally unacceptable.Autodidact wrote:For me, anti-semitism is a symptom of pure evil. Would this include anyone who openly disagrees with and opposes the policies of the State of Israel?Goat wrote: I will agree with that statement, although I would replace the term 'bigotry' , since making crude , rude and socially unacceptable comments about someone due to their religion, gender, sexual preference, or ethnic group is equally unacceptable.

Please note that this subject has not been raised in this thread. Rather, the poster, now banned, trotted out a bunch of false, bigoted and irrational phobias and myths about Jews.Tired of the Nonsense wrote:Would this include anyone who openly disagrees with and opposes the policies of the State of Israel?Goat wrote: I will agree with that statement, although I would replace the term 'bigotry' , since making crude , rude and socially unacceptable comments about someone due to their religion, gender, sexual preference, or ethnic group is equally unacceptable.

That depends.. .. is it a reasoned position based on the facts, or is it a knee jerk reaction because the State of Israel is Jewish? Do they take into account all the information, or are the claimed facts slanted and biased?Tired of the Nonsense wrote:Would this include anyone who openly disagrees with and opposes the policies of the State of Israel?Goat wrote: I will agree with that statement, although I would replace the term 'bigotry' , since making crude , rude and socially unacceptable comments about someone due to their religion, gender, sexual preference, or ethnic group is equally unacceptable.
There are many reasons to criticize the State of Israel, but very often, those who do are not 'fair and balanced' in their criticisms.

The subject has been raised now. I was simply asking Goat's opinion on the question.

The exact opposite sort of "fair and balanced" view of Israel exists in respect to Christian evangelicals and other groups who are in blind lockstep with the policies of Israel simply because they are Jews and therefore God's chosen people and and as such above criticism, all according to God's plan, praise the Lord. Being accused of antisemitism, as I on occasion have been, simply because I do NOT happen to be in blind lockstep with all of Israel's policies and because I happen to consider the Palestinians to be human beings and as such as deserving of the same rights and respect as any other human beings is infuriating. To often the term "antisemitism" is being used as a shield to disguise the very bigotry you have just mentioned. But I was accusing you personally of none of this. I simply asked your opinion.Goat wrote:

I will say those Christian evangelists are for them, since they see the 'state of Israel' needed for the second coming of Jesus, not because the State of Israel is Jewish. I will agree.. the Palestinians are human, and many suffer needlessly because of the inability of their leadership and Israel to come to a mutually acceptable agreement. Israel is certainly not blameless when it comes to their suffering, but their leadership, and other Arab countries using them as a political pawn does not helpTired of the Nonsense wrote:The exact opposite sort of "fair and balanced" view of Israel exists in respect to Christian evangelicals and other groups who are in blind lockstep with the policies of Israel simply because they are Jews and therefore God's chosen people and and as such above criticism, all according to God's plan, praise the Lord.
