Why is this called a " Christian DEbate site"

It seems all people do here is attack God.

It should be called an "atheist" debate site. It's most probably to get Christians to come into the lions den.

Its a debate forum. People debate things in a debate forum. What your calling 'attacks on god' are actually debates. Of course, you are free to defend your beliefs against arguments against it, in a debate forum, if you can. But I suppose, if you can't, it would be like a lions den.
"Faith is the attempt to coerce truth to surrender to whim. In simple terms, it is trying to breathe life into a lie by trying to outshine reality with the beauty of wishes. Faith is the refuge of fools, the ignorant, and the deluded, not of thinking, rational men." - Terry Goodkind.

I wouldn't expect you to say any different.

Hi Tex, I would like to offer the following as food for thought in a gesture of friendship, for whatever it's worth.

Most Christian Evangelists would jump at a chance to evangelize to non-believers. After all, there isn't much point in preaching to the choir.

If you've come here to "Debate" Christianity, then this is what you should expect to do here.

A good thing to do is to ask yourself why you are interested in debating Christianity and what you hope to get out of such debates. There are many possible reasons to do this, and having a good understanding of your own reasons is paramount if you expect to get any sense of fulfillment from these debates.

I joined this forum specifically to debate against Christianity. I sincerely and genuinely believe it to be a false religion and my ultimate goal in debate is to hopefully get other people to realize this. I view the religion as actually being detrimental to humanity in several ways. I feel the same way about Islam as well.

So I have a very well-defined and clear reason for my debating and commentary.

I think it's clear from your posts that your purpose is to debate for Christianity and support it as best you can.

There can be many motivations for this, I can think of a few reasons off the top of my head:

1. You simply believe in the religion and would like to support it.

Perhaps you take the opposite stance from me and feel that it is actually beneficial for humanity to believe in this religion. You should then debate from that perspective if that is indeed your motivation for being here.

2. You would like to evangelize the religion for the purpose of helping other people "come to God" and thus be "saved".

I'm not sure if a debate forum is the right place for evangelism to be honest about it. But that could be a legitimate motivation for debating the religion.

3. You feel that you need to "defend" the religion that you love, and you feel that it is being "attacked" here.

I personally feel that's a misplaced motivation for joining a debate forum. You have no need to defend your religion or your beliefs to anyone. Joining a debate forum just to defend your beliefs is probably the biggest waste of everyone's time especially yours. You would obviously feel insulted by everything that everyone objects to concerning your religion. So that would be a truly unproductive reason for being here IMHO.

4. You have concerns about the religion itself and you'd like to debate specific issues to help you personally sort out specific problems that you are having with your own faith.

A lot of posters are here for that reason, and that's probably the very best reason to join a debate forum. There is no real agenda there other than a genuine attempt to try to better understand the issues being debated.

5. Other?

Perhaps you have a totally different reason that I haven't thought of?

~~~~~~
Understanding precisely why you are here yourself is the first step toward having a meaningful and rewarding experience on a debate forum.
The better you understand your own purpose, the more you can focus in on attempting to achieve that purpose and attain fulfillment in it.
I don't think that's all that people do here, but it certainly is to be found here.
No, it's not an "atheist" debate site. Per the principles of the forum, anyone is welcome to debate here.
"The purpose of this site is to engage in civil debates on anything pertaining to Christianity and religious issues between people of different persuasions. Everyone of any belief system is welcome to participate, this includes, but is not limited to, atheists, agnostics, deists, theists, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Wiccans, Taoists, and Hindus. "
Certainly we do have atheists here, but there are people of many different beliefs here.
Bottom line, if you do not wish to debate with atheists and do not wish to engage in debates about God, then this is not the place for you.
I wonder what the breakdown is? Does anyone know? It does seem like Christians are in the minority but that's probably a good thing.
I think the breakdown is predominantly Christian, but the majority of active, long-term members are non-Christian.
Thanks for the welcome!!
You have no problems warning Christians every second.....But anyone could say anything about God....and you don't care. This is an atheist site. If you went into a Church and started spuing bad things about God like they do here.....It would be thank you for your visit and come back when you respect your Father.
Why would they say much??? Without DNA from God we can't say anything.
The evidence that has been around for thousand of years is never good enough.
No DNA.....No good.....Get out believers.
All I see is atheist like you bashing the scripture that you don't believe in anyway.
So I'm really not debating people that are "concerned" in understanding anything.
