Can the Resurrection of Jesus be Defended

None that will support the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus as a point of "logic, reason and critical thinking." Unless there happens to be a Christian newbe present that I am unaware of who wishes to tackle the job. None of the Christian regulars here will defend the story of the resurrection beyond a "The Bible says it, I believe it, that settles it," defense.

Not so. None is all. I would defend it gladly. Logic and reason reveals what is most evident and what the Bible reveals is absolutely most evident. Start the thread up if you dare. Bring your best arguments.

*****New 'evidence' in Resurrection Trial******
A parchment has been admitted to the court that shows the EXACT location of the transformation event referred to here as the resurrection. It is a rudimentary drawing of a large domed shaped tomb with a raised shelf on which bandages were found. In the centre of the drawing there is a large tombstone which marks the boundaries of subterranean darkness with daylight. To the right of this are a few desert-like people who seem animated for some reason.

There is an x on the picture that purports to indicate the exact location of same ' transformation ' event.

Guess where x is?

TOTN, you are as funny as you are useless at quiz questions. Unless Tatooine is a new adjective for the white blankness of an A4 page, I am going to have to disqualify your answer on grounds too complicated for you to comprehend, so there! :D

On reflection, this place does seem like an ideal location for the 'unbelievable'. It is however, not in the picture so therefore you are disqualified from any further submissions. So there!

Papyrus wasn't white was it? Tattooine is in a Galaxy Far Far Away, I think? A bit like Dune (Arakis) sans the spice and the worms.

How do you know I have a priori decided it true rather than by looking at the evidence?
Because
1. there is no evidence
2. You don't think critically of your own arguments, you just post them because they lead to your conclusion. If I was wrong, you would not be calling the gospels original documentation and eye witness accounts because they clearly aren't.
I'm not saying anything about whether or not they are false by the way.

Not open to other points of view. Can an atheist fall under this definition?
They sure can. Most of us don't, precisely because we value logic, reason, critical thinking and empirical evidence.
Most of us look at ACTUAL evidence and from THERE form our opinions, that's the opposite of being close minded, because you're letting the evidence lead you
For example, as a kid, I honestly believed Frankenstein's monster was real.
I looked at the evidence for a murderous philosophizing reanimated corpse made out of other people's body parts, and I'm sad to conclude the likeliness of Frankenstein's monster actually existing is pathetically small.
This is deciding based on evidence.
What you are doing is believing God is real, and continue to ignore, disregard, spin, whatever arguments and criticisms and scientific knowledge and impossibilities you come across just so everything will always fit your a priori belief.

The evidence for the fact that most theists do this is to be found all over this forum.[/code]

Post 497 remains ignored by East of Eden. These people are lost in a wilderness of perpetual self-delusion and refuse advice on a minute by minute basis.

The priest was a passenger on a liner that sank. The lifeboat passengers tried to pick him up but he insisted that God would come to his aid. An offer of a lifebelt was politely declined. ''My God will save me soon'' Finally the assistance of the rescue helicopter crew was waved away before the inevitable happened.

Later, a rather indignant cleric demanded an explanation from God at the pearly gates. 'I prayed, I did penance, I fasted and I gave alms and when I needed you, you ignored me. A bemused God pleaded in his own defence. ''But I sent you a lifeboat, and a lifebelt, I even sent a a bleeding helicopter.................!

Anyone for the quiz:

Don't need to guess, you've already told me x is on the parchment.

He also refuses to discuss his own 493 or the question in 494, 498, 499, et al.
He suggests we discuss the 'eye witness' testimony that without authority he thinks would be admissible in a court of law, then fails to call even his first witness for cross examination.

If you cannot stand the heat then stay out of the kitchen.
