The Christian Response to Homosexuality

Many Christians consider homosexual practices to be immoral. The forum has multiple threads which include arguments as to whether or not homosexuality should be considered immoral, and even whether this position is supported Biblically.

In this thread, we will take it is a given that homosexuality is immoral.

Under this assumption, what should the response of Christians be to the existence of homosexuality? How should we interact with or treat persons who are homosexuals?

In terms of political society, what sort of laws should Christians support with respect to homosexuality? If there is to be unequal treatment of homosexuals under the law, what is the Biblical basis for this?


Again, arguments concerning the morality of homosexuality are not relevant to the thread. What is relevant is discussion of the possible Christian responses to homosexuality, and what valid rationale there are for these responses.

The same as to any other sin. Can't help but notice a disparity with some individuals who have chosen to fixate on that one sin over and above all others.
It is the one sin that is excused away by a so called birth condition. Maybe it will work for you and your "divorce orientation?"
How should we interact with or treat persons who are homosexuals?
Well, with civility first and foremost.
While politely asking them to change their behaviors, be quiet about it and don't demand it to be accepted and celebrated, or leave the Church.
As for policy, I leave that to the church. If it's the policy of a denomination to exclude homosexuals from their congregation, that's fine. If other denominations want to allow homosexual members but try to discourage homosexual activity, I don't have a problem with that.


I'm thinking God may have something to say to you "from" the "Word of God."
I found out not too long ago that every relationship I've had since my divorce is construed as "adultery" and if I went to church I'd expect to hear sermons against adultery.
That would be in keeping with "the word of God." Unless of course you sue the Church and picket the APA to give your 'divorce orientation' a new lease on life."

How about accurate history of same-gender sex? It is dreadful. Nero wasn't exactly a sweetheart. Nero slaughtered Christians and down the Roman leader line is Hadrian another man that had a male lover . . . this guy slaughtered had the Jews slaughtered and would have finished off the Jewish people up on Masada but, they decided to kill themselves before falling into the hands of Hadrian's soldiers.

Homophobe is a new and insulting invective and epithet. It is used to silence any disapproval or dissent of gay sex.

Any that don't restrict their freedom. Their personal safety shouldn't be violated or threatened, and they should be allowed to be employed, housed, and privately engage in homosexual activity between consenting adults.


A person is a person. Why does anyone need to be labeled by the sex they have?

While I am in favor of gay marriage or civil unions, I don't have a problem with Christians who vote against it.


Well the Gospel can rest for a moment from being labeled hate speech and homophobic. But, I notice, it is just for awhile. The Gay Agenda of spreading homosexuality is closing its noose around the necks of Christian Churches that dare disapprove of "it."

Church 'could be forced to bless gay weddings'

New Government proposals on equality could require clergy to bless homosexual "weddings" or face prosecution, the Church of England said yesterday.

It said the proposed regulations could undermine official teaching and require Christians to act against their religious convictions.

The Sexual Orientation (Provision of Goods and Services) Regulations will make discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation illegal in the same way as race or sex.


The Christian Response to Homosexuality better be very, very carefully worded.

That's certain, and you could have no valuable considered opinion to truth unless you admit God is right, and to do that you'd have to admit the Homosexuals are worthy of being executed, and you dont want to be convicted of your won sins so you put your head in the sand.

Either God said the truth or it's a lie, so I take it you rely on fallen man to be the strength of your support in what is right and wrong.

Man can be moved and broken and destroyed and he dies, God does not die... he is giver of all life, he designed all things, he knows what is what.

I'm not in favor of violent actions that homosexuals have conducted any more than I'm in favor of violent actions that straight rulers have conducted. Power corrupts. But posting histories of sadistic straight people would be irrelevant to the discussion, as are posting histories of sadistic homosexuals.

So if I'm hearing you correctly, the existence of soulforce is adequate reason to advocate harming gay people? I just want to make sure I'm not putting words into your mouth.
