Today, June 20th 2009, is the eighth anniversary of the sacrifice Andrea Yates made for her children. Had she not murdered them, Noah would be 15 years old, John would be 13, Paul 11, Luke 10, and Mary would be 8. Instead, they were murdered by their mother so they would go immediately to live with God eternally in the paradise of heaven, thus avoiding the possibility of eternal torment in hellfire.
Is this a victory for Christianity?
Happy Anniversary?

Ooo! did not know that bit. Yep blame them too now.goat wrote:I partly blame religion, because her pastor and her husband refused to let her get the medical care she needed, due to their religious beliefs. I blame her for letting them say NO to the medical treatment she needed.Furrowed Brow wrote:Sadly Yates manages to be both mentally ill and utterly logical at the same time. Even sadder is the fact people do kill there kids for a variety of reasons. She may have got around to killing her kids without the influence of a fundamentalist preacher, or even if she was an unbeliever. However the mix of mental illness and fire n brimstone religion in this instance was toxic.
It's just a very sad story. I don't blame religion. I do blame yates, but given she was ill I don't feel like pursueing blame with any vigor.

Happy Anniversary?
Yesterday was June 20th 2015, the fourteenth anniversary of the murders of five innocent children. Had they lived, Noah would be 21 years of age, John would be 19, Paul 17, Luke 16, and Mary 14. Instead, according to many Christians, they are presently and eternally with God in heaven -- thus avoiding the possibility of eternal torment in hellfire had they lived past their innocent years.
Their Christian mother and murderer believed, had faith, and acted on what she was taught. According to great evangelists, her efforts succeeded. They claim the children are indeed in Heaven with God for all eternity!
She murdered her children in their "innocent" years. That is, before they reached the age of accountability.
This is one of the many consequences of false Christian theology, and is why understanding God's true Plan of Salvation for mankind is critically important!
Andrea Yates acted on what she had been taught by well-intentioned Christians. She expects to burn in hell eternally while her children are safe in paradise with God. And yet Christians have not even begun to build a statue of her or place her image in even one stained glass window! I believe she remains medicated, forgotten, and imprisoned in a mental ward somewhere in Texas.
Either this "Christian" theology is wrong, or such acts are simply part of the cost of doing the Christian business. Either choice is a poor and disgraceful reflection upon the Christian religion.
On this anniversary, I apologize once again for my past history of teaching and supporting this false "Christian" theology!

Re: Happy Anniversary?
Post #13I dont see how it could be victory for Christianity. Bible doesnt give right to murder people, so the act was clearly against the will of God. Also it was not certain that those children would go to heaven if killed then. It may be that she murdered the children and they go directly to hell.myth-one.com wrote: Today, June 20th 2009, is the eighth anniversary of the sacrifice Andrea Yates made for her children. Post #14Every Christian I've asked stated for certain that they are in Heaven or paradise with God for all eternity!1213 wrote: Also it was not certain that those children would go to heaven if killed then. It may be that she murdered the children and they go directly to hell.
Do these Christians not understand their own theology?

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Mat. 25:46
Unfortunately many will be disappointed and
Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?' Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.'
Matt. 7:21-23

Not just refusing the medical attention but her psychosis was brought on from extreme postpartum depression. Her doctor strongly emphasized the fact that she should not conceive any more children. Her husband went ahead and got her pregnant again anyways. I don't just put part blame on the husband and pastor I put significant blame as they were both well aware of this fact yet continued to abuse her faith in them at significant personal health cost.Furrowed Brow wrote:Ooo! did not know that bit. Post #18And you are saying you are not sure if children are righteous or not? How does your own theology deal with the death of infants?1213 wrote: Probably they understand their own theology. I had not heard this either. What tradition are they are part of? The only major group that claims to follow Christ and denies medical treatment is Christian Scientists, a cult (in the technical sense of the word) that is at best on the outside fringe of Christianity.Goat wrote: I partly blame religion, because her pastor and her husband refused to let her get the medical care she needed, due to their religious beliefs. Post #20I have not enough knowledge to tell who really are righteous. Bible tells that eternal life is for righteous. I think the same condition is for all people.Bust Nak wrote:And you are saying you are not sure if children are righteous or not?
