What did Jesus teach?

Post by Elijah John »

For debate, what did Jesus teach?

Pure monotheism (Shema) and simple repentance...or
Trinitarianism and vicarious blood atonement?
My theological positions:

-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.

I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

VanDough,

The baggage I was referring too is actually following ALL of your bible's doctrine as Yahweh intended you to do. Imagine if you follow what Peter said? "But Peter and the apostles answered, 'We must obey God rather than men." (Acts 5:29) If you did, you'd be in prison post haste for life to certain precepts that were set forth for you and all Christians to follow.

When you have the Holy Ghost Spirit of Christ living within you, you don't need doctrine so much. One who is led by the Spirit of Christ will live up to the standards of God, which is basically Love the LORD and Love your neighbor. Those were hard times for the disciples living in occupied Israel along with a contentious clergy.

VanDough,

I can understand your position, but I believe Jesus trumps everyone's opinion in how they are to serve Yahweh when he stated the following; And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD of God. (Luke 4:4 KJV)

As part of "every word of god" within the scriptures, there is some pretty horrific things that Yahweh prescribed for the true Christian to follow, and that if caught, would place them in prison for life.

Jesus taught that he was ushering in the Messianic era.

Luke 5:33-35 ; "Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them"?) In response to the people who asked him why his disciples aren't fasting like John's and the Pharisees? Jesus is clearly alluding here that now is the Messianic age which is the occasion for eating drinking and merrymaking .

VanDough,
this appears to be a deliberate obliteration of my handle. Please be kind.

Tes. Yours too, right? You are part of "everyone".
when he stated the following; And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD of God. (Luke 4:4 KJV)
Jesus was talking to the Devil, who was trying to tempt Him with food. A lot of Christians have that problem.

If you're trying to scare me, it's working. But I hope and trust all believers who suffer horrific things get a reward that surpases their suffering.

There are so many ways I could go with this. What's your main point here? It's tough to be a Christian? Give uo? It's worse to go to hell and die. Persecution, at least to some degree .is on the plate for all true Christians.

Not really. Love conjoins.
We are asked to do good and to speak truth for this is godly thing to do.
Yes we fail to do it 100% but we do not stop loving that
which is good and loving truth - which are of God.
By doing these we have conjunction with God

:warning: Moderator Warning

You have repeatedly addessed YahDough as "VanDough. I PMed you to bring the error to your attention, but you did not respond to my PM, nor have you yet corrected yourself. I was inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt, but your lack of response, makes me think the continued lack of respect is deliberate. Thus the warning.

Elijah,

Fine, you assume as a premise the conclusion in which you wish to reach which was false! Without a response from me in a timely manner, you took it upon yourself to "assume" that I was being disrespectful? Wrong!

The irony is that your unwarranted statements to me were violating the rules of this forum.

Personal attacks of any sort are not allowed. Comments about any person that are negative, condescending, frivolous or indicate in any way a lack of respect are not allowed.

In general, all members are to be civil and respectful.

I post once a day, and wasn't near a computer to see that I received a message, and the fact that I am new and not up to speed on the protocols. You're pretty quick on the draw to accuse me in such a manner.

I saw "Van Dough" and thought it was a derivative of the artist Van Gogh, therefore the connection, and I didn't see the correct spelling. There was absolutely NO disrespect

Subjectively, your claims are really petty under the circumstances as if I am suppose to answer you post haste when I have a life away from the computer. lol

You are not supposed to challenge a moderator action "publicly", You could get another "warning". I was the one who flagged your post as a personal attack. Elijah John was kind enough to consider what you did. Calling me VanDough was actually kind of funny. Perhaps you meant it in playful fun. But this isn't like the Presidential debates. This is more serious. :)
I look forward to more debates with you.
