Ghosts and goblins

Post by Cmass »

Since Halloween is fast approaching I thought I would ask a simple question:
As a Christian, do you believe in ghosts?
How about a devil or devils?
Witches?
Goblins?
Angels?
Vampires?
Can a person be possessed?
Did Jesus walk on water?
Did Jesus rise from the dead?

Which of your "zombies" heals the sick, calms the storms, calls on people to love God and your fellow man, gives eternal life, and can build an angelic hedge of protection around you so Satan and his "zombies" won't mess with you?

Didn't King Saul summon one of the prophets?
Didn't the rich man want to go back and warn his brothers?

I can't think of anything else.

While we are on the topic, how many times were dead people raised from the dead according to the Bible? Some uninformed Christians have claimed that Jesus was the one and only.
Off the top of my head, Lazarus, Jesus, the many who were raised from the tombs after the crucifixion and Ezekiel's army. Any more?

My zombie Bob can do all those things. And he can rollerblade on water.

Let's be fair. As long as you can make up things about your fictional zombies, I can make up stuff about my fictional zombies. And that, I'm afraid, sums up the total of world religions.

No. The challenge for Christians is to live their lives in accordance with God's will and to do the best they can to follow it. Apologetics, while both useful and fun, are not a requirement.
How finely irrelevant.

I'm challenging you to explain why you believe in one zombie (Jesus) and not others?

Ok. I'm responding to your challenge with another. Show Jesus fits the definition of a "zombie".
zom‧bie  /ˈzɒmbi/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[zom-bee] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

noun 1. (in voodoo) a. the body of a dead person given the semblance of life, but mute and will-less, by a supernatural force, usually for some evil purpose.
b. the supernatural force itself.

This doesn't sound at all like what Christians claim does it so your challenge is mute.
It is a first class human tragedy that people of the earth who claim to believe in the message of Jesus, whom they describe as the Prince of Peace, show little of that belief in actual practice.

"moot".

Anyway, what does it matter what christians claim? As I said above, christians are free to claim anything they want about Jesus, just as I can claim anything I want about Bob. The question is, why do you believe in one zombie and not another?

How can I have a personal relationship with Bob?

If you believe in your heart that Bob is your saviour, you can pray to Bob and Bob will grant you whatever you ask for, unless granting your request would ultimately do you harm.

As an added bonus, Bob will ensure the eternal happiness of your soul after you die. After all, he's been there.

Now Just Believe!

I don't believe in any Zombies. Jesus doesn't fit the category.

And I used MUTE on purpose in that instance. You claims were not saying anything intelligible was my point. Not applicable. Not pertinent. Etc. But arguing about one word is stupid, so I am dropping it. Please address how you feel Jesus fits into the definition of a Zombie.
