It seems to me, that new members rarely post a introduction thread anymore. As such I am making this thread as a way that new members can say hi, and get to know a couple of people on the forums.

So to all the new members:

First of all, hello!

Second, why don't you tell us a little bit about yourself?

“A detective story generally describes six living men discussing how it is that a man is dead. A modern philosophic story generally describes six dead men discussing how any man can possibly be alive.

Welcome both of you. Stick around!

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

I've been away for a while, so I figured I should re-introduce myself.

My name is Hayven (with this spelling), my username here is Haven, no "y" (you may call me either one), and I'm a 29-year-old Ph.D. candidate (ABD) from Utah. I'm a non-theist and metaphysical naturalist, and I enjoy debating religion, philosophy, politics, history, and the like! I'm also into hiking, biking, skiing, and pretty much any outdoor activity.

Good day to you all! :D

Peace be upon you brothers and sisters .

My name is Mohamed Helal from my name u would recognize me as a Muslim :)

I'm 25 years old I finished some university degree I love to look into religion similarities and contradictions and correct any miss-understanding through my religion

I will be glad to have a conversation with every one and I'm sure you are all great people I will start with verses from the Bible

{{“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened}}

Matthew (7:7)

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Mattew(7:15-20)

now I will end with verses from Quran

{{You will surely find the most intense of the people in animosity toward the believers [to be] the Jews and those who associate others with Allah ; and you will find the nearest of them in affection to the believers those who say, "We are Christians." That is because among them are priests and monks and because they are not arrogant. And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, "Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses. And why should we not believe in Allah and what has come to us of the truth? And we aspire that our Lord will admit us [to Paradise] with the righteous people." So Allah rewarded them for what they said with gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of doers of good. }}

Al-Ma'idah (The Table )(5:82-85)

You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.

Al-Fath (The Victory)(48:29)

May allah be with all of you brothers and sisters :D

Hi everyone, I'm Samantha an ex-Christian. I still believe in God, just not the Christian version of Him. I'm here because I love discussing the Bible.

Welcome all newbies!

Great to have another ex-Christian join us. There are certainly plenty of us here! Hopefully we can help others see that we weren't just rebellious people who just want to sin.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Call me Kal...its better than Paul :?

I've arrived on this forum after a Spiritual Journey that began in 2009 following the death of my father. After battles with depression, loosing a child and a nervous breakdown I looked to my faith to find comfort and solace.

My family ran a Non-Denominational Mission and my brother, sister and I were quasi-religious...attending church every Sunday. Interesting to note that my family are 2nd (maybe more) generation Freemasons. I chose not to join...despite being pressured by another family member.

After buying a bible and starting to read Genesis the words rang hollow in my ears. I began to research historical and mythological records to find meaning behind the messages...but got more than i bargained for.

It didn't so much damage my faith as smash it to smitherines.

In hindsight it was the best thing that ever happened to me. After a short period of uncertainty for the first time in my life I didn't feel afraid or like i had to tread on eggshells to "keep the faith". In fact I have more respect for the "Historical" Jesus than ever before.

Now I have no religion...I am a Sovereign Soul.
I think of God as a Divine Source and we are all connected to it and each other.
Never had any time for Creationism as I prefer science to faith.

Im looking forward to engaging in discussions with all of you. I certainly don't judge anybody for thier beliefs and won't try and convert you to my way of thinking. I am here because during my research I learned a lot about christian history...some historicly proven and some downright unbelievable.

If anybody wants a list of the books i read during my research or wishes to talk to me, im always available for a luvely discussion. O:)
