Is it that the educated believe in God?

I thought it is the educated who believe in God while the less educated look at science to disprove God. Einstein [he meant Newton] was a great scientist and he was a christian. How about that ? Is he ‘uneducated’? Einstein [Newton] believed in Jesus Christ & the God of the bible and his scientific success was based on bible facts. Einstein [Newton] took those facts and used science to prove it, changing our lives permanently for the better.

Is it true that those with less education use science to try to disprove God? Is it true that those with more education believe in God and use that belief to make better science?

Examples and evidence please.

Generally the percent who disbelieve in God starts at about 10% for less than high school diploma and gradually rises through education levels topping out at 30% for those with a grad degree (I'm regarding the survey's first two categories as "disbelieving in God").

Oh oops, I just noticed a weird blip in the results. Looks like those with HS diploma are more likely to be theist than those with without. And from there on, as education goes up, theists drop out. Hmm that's kinda interesting...

Let me give this disclaimer first. I don't know if God exists or not. But I have a bachelors in Nursing, a Bachelors in Chemistry, and a Masters in Microbiology w/minor in genetics. But my education in fact negates Gods existence. All my training leans me away from a God. I consider myself well educated, though not in theology obviously. But I look to natural things. I don't believe in ghosts, miracles, vampires, etc..... I think it may very well be the opposite. My apologies for anyone I offend with this next statement, but the less educated seem to be able to accept the supernatural more than the educated. In this term supernatural I have to claim God fits.

No, my kids chose an angel and spiderman. So still won't beleive in ghosts and vampires. But I see your point.

I don't think that is a correct reading. I only count the first catagory as atheist. Phrases like "higher power" and "cosmic force" are synonyms for "god" as far as most atheists are concerned. That catagory would include deists and pantheists, who are certainly not atheists.

Personally, I think those statistics are appalling. Do 49% of graduate-educated people really have "no doubt" that god exists? And another 22% believe in a "higher power or cosmic force"? Only 7.4% are rational enough to reject the supernatural?

Oh, how lonely it is out here in the land we call "reality".

I relate a higher power in a natural source, not supernatural. QED can best me at logic, he is a higher power. The force of gravity is a cosmic force. None of these do I associate with a synonym for God. Though I am still trying to fight it, I think my path is leading me towards your 7.4%. My education speaks for itself.
