The kingdom of God.

Post by Checkpoint »

Some seem to think it is entirely future, while others give the impression they are always thinking of it as present, and to not be looking at the future in kingdom terms at all.

Jesus had much to say about the kingdom, including this:
Luke 16:

6 The Law and the Prophets were until John; since then the good news of the kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is being zealously urged into it.
So, where do you stand as to whether it is present, future, or has both a present and a future aspect?

On what basis?

According to which scriptures?

I don't see that as an agreement. Feel free to use your own terminology; I'll refer to sovereignty and kingdom-government, I understand you refer to "the kingdom" (with multiple comings)....

A concordance is not a dictionary. It's more like a bridge between languages. Thus the Greek word basileia in translation doesn't have to contain the word government in the concordance. The definition of a kingdom in English is "a politically organized community or major territorial unit having a monarchical form of government headed by a king or queen."
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/kingdom

Jesus Christ is that king in the Kingdom of God and why it is rightfully called a kingdom. (Acts 17:6, 7, Revelation 17:14)
This is why we need concordances and lexicons, each one is what dictionaries are not so much, "a bridge between languages".
Yet should we throw away the dictionary when it doesn't suit our dogma? Isn't the truth clearer with all available references?

THE KINGDOM OF GOD

What is God's kingdom? God's Kingdom is a heavenly government.

God's kingdom is the Messianic kingdom He promised, a realm not of this world.
Who is in it? Jesus is its head, he shares rulership with 144,000 born again believers.

God and Christ, who share it with all born again believers, a countless number.
Where is it? It's in heaven

It is everywhere the sons of the kingdom are, as they are doing the will of God on earth and experiencing righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

So your point was to state the obvious; the scriptures refer to the kingdom and Jesus' government as well as call Jehovah as "the king of eternity". As far as I can see only Jehovah's Witnesses acknowledge all three things and understand how they relate to each other.

You can continue to deny these three things calling them one thing, call everthing "kingdom", claim it has kept coming ("multiple times") from the beginning of time (althought it was "set up" during the Roman era) and hope that no confusion arises.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD
What does it govern? It will govern the entire planet earth.
Those who choose to become a new creation and see and enter it by being born from above.
When did it start governing? 1914
2000 years ago. That was when Jesus was given all power and authority, sat with his Father on His throne, and sent the Holy Spirit.
Is it "within us"? No its a government.
No, Jesus Christ its king is within us believers.
Will it's rule extend into the future? Yes, it will continue for 1000 years
Yes, it will continue for eternity as the new heaven and new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Is Jesus government within us too? And where was it before the first century? Did the government not exist prior to the first century?

Why, since the kingdom is within his disciples did Jesus disciples request to sit on his right side in the kingdom? What were they requesting?

No, and no.
Why, since the kingdom is within his disciples did Jesus disciples request to sit on his right side in the kingdom? What were they requesting?
I said the king is within us. I said "no" to your question, 'Is it "within us"?'

The king is not his kingdom. The kingdom is not its king.
