Matthew 28:19
Post #1So this scripture is the reason almost every major denomination baptizes in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is also a major argument for the Trinity. But as we have seen in the past with 1 John, there are instances where scripture has been touched by man to promote Trinitarian doctrine. My question is do you think this scripture is valid or invalid? I know we have a lot of people who aren't Trinitarians on here, so that's why I ask.
Acts 2:38 - Repent, and be Baptized in the NAME OF JESUS CHRIST for the forgiveness of your sins, and you WILL RECEIVE the gift of the Holy Spirit.

You have made your conclusions clear, thanks.
If other nominal Christians have understood the command found in Matthew 28:19 I to mean to preach the gospel and are attempting to do so, I applaud them. It's better than the armchair christians that sit on their hands and try and justify their inativity. by pointing the finger at those who get off their butts and get busy.
Feel free to state clearly where you personally stand in regards to engaging in the activity of preaching the gospel, your silence as to whether it is right or wrong for a Christian to preach the gospel is deafening.

Post #72Since you have never challenged my scripturally supported claim that the Church will not preach the gospel to all nations, I will assume we agree that claim to be justified.JehovahsWitness wrote: [Replying to post 69 by myth-one.com]

But when I discovered that the church would fail, I was curious as to why -- especially since it had affected my life so dramatically.
I recall Lottie Moon drives every year when real missionaries home from the mission fields would bring people to emotional tears of joy upon telling their true stories of hardship and persecution.
And although man will not succeed in spreading the gospel to all nations, we should highly respect those who abandon the good life of our wonderful country in an effort to fulfill the great commission. They share the misery of third world countries while ministering to, aiding, healing, and teaching the gospel as they were taught it to desperate people.
But part of the "gospel message" of the churches I attended was that man is born with an immortal soul which will spend eternity in either heaven or the fires of hell.
Untold billions burning alive in hellfire eternally is good news to no one.
So tragically, these sincere devoted Christians are not spreading the gospel of Christ as commanded, but the gospel of the serpent:
If we live forever, we must live somewhere! Thus heaven or hell. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: (Genesis 3:4)
The actual goal according to the Bible is to obtain eternal life. It is not something we are born with:
If man is born with eternal life, then there is no cause for God to "give unto them eternal life!"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:27-28)
Believing Satan's lie destroys any chance that the true gospel of love and forgiveness will be spread to all the nations.
"God is Love" is incompatible with condemning mankind to everlasting torture.
It's an impossible concept to sell.
Thus no human will do so.

Since you don't content Christians SHOULD be preaching worldwide and that you admit that preaching the gospel worldwide is the right thing to do also that those that are not doing so are being negligent of their christian commission.
I will take any silence on your part regarding any and all the above points to be a complete and uncatagoric concession on your part.
Since that is the theme of the thread I think my work here is done, That is unless you want to address or redress any of the specific points above.

Post #74As for your point as to whether "the church" will do it, I don't know, the bible doesn't explcitly say. It indicates that each individual person may not get a personal witness if that is what you mean. All we know for sure is that Jesus COMMANDED his followeers to do and it will be done before the end of the sytem.myth-one.com wrote: the Church will not preach the gospel to all nations
We also know that there is nothing wrong or disobedient in the church preaching the gospel worldwide as commanded. I also know that those that willfully neglect this command or being disobedient and I am also confident you cannot point to a country on earth where Christians should not try to preach the gospel.
I also know that Jehovah's Witnesses are preaching the gospel worldwide in that they have or have had a presence in every country on earth; and I also believe you will from now on think twice before you attempt to condemn them or any other Christian group for their efforts in this domaine.

And I never said they were not supposed to be doing so!!Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20)
JehovahsWitness wrote:As for your point as to whether "the church" will do it, I don't know, the bible doesn't explcitly say.
If the church did it, God would not have to send an angel to do it shortly before the second coming!!And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people. (Revelation 14:6)
So the Bible does state it explicitly.
Does it have to be preached twice to all the world?

I'm sorry when I say "explicitly" I mean the following four words in this order are not to be found anywhere in the bible "The Church will fail". I have yet to see those four words in scripture, that's what I mean by "the bible doesn't say 'explicitly'.

You claimed that they are preaching the gospel worldwide.
Here is what must occur:
Are you sure that you haven't missed one person? And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people. (Revelation 14:6)
=======================================================================
The Bible states the this preaching of the gospel worldwide must occur before the second coming and end of times can occur.
But shortly prior to the second coming of Christ and the end of times in Revelation 19, God sends an angel to preach the gospel to all nations in Revelation chapter 14.
If the Jehovah's Witnesses have already taking credit for fulfilling the Great Commission, why must God send an angel to fulfill it a second time?
