Paradise on Earth

Post by onewithhim »

When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?

If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.

We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.

Matthew 5:5
Psalm 37:9-11,29

Paradise?

Recently, while re-reading "The Brothers Karamazov", I was struck by the similarity between the Christian "Kingdom of Heaven" and the Marxist "Communist Utopia". Of course, it also occurred to me that neither is actually attainable, because even if the "perfect society" only lacked butter-brickle ice cream it would be deemed by some less than perfect, and others would be unhappy with these unhappy butter brickle people who should be satisfied with rocky road.
People will always find some reason to be unhappy. Nearly always they will blame someone else for their unhappiness.
We could, I think, were we able to prioritize rationally, solve most of the real and serious problems we face. But, being prideful of our irrationality, we think money, or race, or football are worth arguing about. The real problems are too frightening to face.

Jehovah's society of people will not be "less than perfect" or lacking in anything. Rule by men will always fail, but not rule by Christ. That is what "the Kingdom" is that he taught us to pray for. (Matt.6:9,10) Those people that don't want to live in paradise on Earth will be dismissed. God doesn't force anyone to follow His directives.

This is my favorite passage, because it shows what life will be like under Jesus' rule:

"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid, and the calf and the young lion and the fatted beast together, and a little child shall lead them....They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea." (Isaiah 11:6-9, J.N.Darby)

No it does not. What Peter wrote about "the earth and the works in it being discovered" and "the elements being intensely hot will melt" is SYMBOLIC, just as most of the book of Revelation is symbolic.

If you examine closely 2 Peter 3:6,7 and 10-13, you can see that it is not the literal planet that will be destroyed, but it is "the ungodly men," just as in the days of Noah. Was the planet destroyed LITERALLY then? No! Neither will it be at the end of the Great Tribulation. Take the time to read this entire passage in Peter's letter please.

The point is---in fact the entire Bible addresses this problem---that Adam and Eve failed but their offspring still have a chance to gain eternal life through Jesus Christ and what he did for us.

Yes, all the signs is its coming soon, within our "generation".

The tribulation is ahead but just beyond a new world.

Within our generation?! You know, Jesus predicted the same thing... two thousand years ago.

"Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom." --- Matthew 16:28 New International Version

He got it wrong. Maybe you know more than he?
