"Now the chief priests and all the council sought testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but found none. For many bore false witness against him, but their testimonies did not agree." (Mark 14:55-56)
If the testimony of those witnesses was to be rejected because it didn't agree, how can anyone be blamed for rejecting the resurrection accounts in the gospels for the same reason?
Their witness does not agree

I have mentioned many times, and you can confirm, that Jesus performed and encouraged or was a part of many blasphemies.
Paying taxes to pagan Gods.
Using graven images of those Gods.
The adultery scenario is almost transcendentally blaspheming.
and so on.
So, them claiming 'false witness,' is simply sour grapes.
Nice post.

.
Were there any witness accounts of the 'resurrection'? (Honest answer: there are no actual witness accounts available)
Who witnessed the 'resurrection'? (Honest answer: no one is known or claimed to have witnessed the body coming back to life)
There are unverified tales written decades later claiming that 1) the body was placed in a tomb, 2) the body was not in the tomb later, 3) people were said to have seen the deceased. Conclusions are drawn that this means the deceased came back to life and left -- rather irrational conclusions.
Unverified tales do NOT equal witness accounts. Gospel writers have not been shown to have had any personal knowledge of the events they describe -- and their honesty and accuracy have not been established.
Claims of supernatural involvement (or 'miracle') have not been substantiated.

Because all four accounts testify that Jesus died and was subsequently resurrected. On that there is no disagreement.

Yes, the problem is that all four accounts, are fiction.
Just like if you asked Spock, McCoy, and Sulu who was in command of the Enterprise.
You all do not seem to understand about fiction. It claims resurrection and other fantasy, and it doesn’t require any proof, because, obviously it is not.

Irrelevant.
All four gospels are in complete agreement about the method and location and time of death and resurrection.
None say Jesus was drowned or died in a skiing accident.

Because the false testimonies were accepted by the chief priest. The false testimony was that Jesus said He was God and that He would tear down the temple.
Jesus was crucified for claiming He was God.
Clarification is needed for the subject of your debate.
You need to clarify your statement. What is that you are trying to communicate? Because what you have really does not make sense."Now the chief priests and all the council sought testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but found none. For many bore false witness against him, but their testimonies did not agree." (Mark 14:55-56)
If the testimony of those witnesses was to be rejected because it didn't agree, how can anyone be blamed for rejecting the resurrection accounts in the gospels for the same reason?

But some do say he was hanged like Judas.
With new information about the rarity and unspectacular nature of hanging, this is gaining some attention.
I mean how horrible would it be to have a dude in a noose hanging around your neck or on your wall, as a gruesome reminder that you violate the second Commandment.

I will never understand how someone who claims to know the ultimate truth, of God, believes they deserve respect, when they cannot distinguish it from a fairy-tale.
You know, science and logic are hard: Religion and fairy tales might be more your speed.
To continue to argue for the Hebrew invention of God is actually an insult to the very concept of a God. - Divine Insight

Re: Their witness does not agree
Post #10You're right about method and location, but the Gospels disagree about time. John's Gospel puts the crucifixion before Passover, but the Synoptics have it take place the day after Passover.JehovahsWitness wrote:All four gospels are in complete agreement about the method and location and time of death and resurrection.
In John, the Last Supper is explicitly "before the Feast of the Passover" (13:1-2). Some people try to play with the wording to claim that's not what was meant, but 18:28 confirms that the Passover Seder hadn't been eaten yet. In the Synoptics, Jesus wasn't arrested until after the Passover meal was completed.
