What’s your take on the following? Is there life after death?
Many studies on near-death experiences suggest that they are vivid, often life-changing events that occur under extreme physiological conditions, such as cardiac arrest or deep anesthesia. So, does some form of consciousness exist beyond the physical body?
Over 2,000 patients who experienced cardiac arrest were found to have some reported awareness and memories during resuscitation. Others experienced sensations of leaving the body, encountering bright lights, and experiencing a deep sense of peace.
This can only be possible if man consists of a body, a soul, and a spirit. When the body experiences death or some coma-like experience, the soul and spirit leave the body and are aware of their surroundings.
Both Paul and John had similar experiences.
Paul wrote, 2 Corinthians 12:2-4, “I know a man in Christ, who fourteen years ago, (whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows); such a man was caught up to the third heaven. --- How that he was caught up into paradise and heard unspeakable words, which a man is not lawful for a man to utter.”
Mr. Dave Bennett was the chief engineer of an underwater research vessel in 1983. One night, he was thrown into the ocean. He’d been educated on the signs of oxygen deprivation, but as he drowned, he suddenly experienced something unlike anything he’d read about.
He felt an omnipresent being accompanying him as the darkness slowly faded into light. Surprisingly, he started to move toward it. He said, “As I got closer, there were waves and waves of love that were just wrapping me in this warm embrace. It was the most amazing feeling I ever had, and it felt as if this love was actually permeating my being, and it transformed me into this being of life, and as I got closer to the light, the light appeared to me like it was millions upon millions of fragments of light.” Out of that, he saw what he interpreted as his family—not the ones he’d had on Earth but a second “soul family.” This soul family relived his life with him through different viewpoints. He was told to go back to life to fulfill his purpose, and after 18 minutes underwater, he returned to the surface.
In October 2023, Tommy McDowell found himself in the intensive care unit, his body ravaged by sepsis-induced organ failure. While unconscious, McDowell stepped into a void he describes as "extreme blackness."
As recounted during the conversation with Baltimore’s 11 News, “I have no vision, no sight, no body feeling, no breath, nothing. Just this total, total blackness. And it was terrifying.”
He felt an overwhelming sense of isolation and fear. Amid this abyss, McDowell cried out in desperation.
"I screamed out, and I said, you know, 'My God, my God, where are you?' And that was when I had just this incredibly overwhelming sense of peace and comfort," said McDowell. "I don't have the language to describe exactly how much it was. It's like I tell people, whatever your best life was, multiply it by 10,000 times, and maybe you'll get close to the extreme of what this felt like."

Re: Is there life after death?
as human beings we have a very humanistic and simple imagination of the afterlife in comparison to God who exists outside of our limitations of time.
just think of how we perceive death, our decay and how we disappear eventually into the water, wind, rain and fire without a trace that we ever existed.
Although there are preserved human remains found as fossils, mummies and encapsulated remains but if our human bodies are left open to the elements of the earth eventually we all disappear in time.
We can put our trust and hope in the creator who is taking the spark of electric energy we call or perceive as our Spirit and he will unite our Spirit with him in the afterlife.

Post #12The spirit we have is God's breath, or, his power. When we die nothing comes out of us like a spirit body that unites with God. The spirit that leaves us is the breath of God that keeps us alive. Jesus said that there will be a resurrection, and that means that the physical body or what that person was before he died, will again receive the breath of God, the Father's power to keep him alive, through Jesus Christ, and will regain life on the earth. There is no place in the Bible that says that when people die they have a conscious part of themselves that departs and goes to God. Jesus will resurrect them "in the last days." (John 5:28; John 6:40,44) In the interim, the person is "sleeping" in death, returning to dust. (John 11:11-14, 24,25; Genesis 3:19) He has no consciousness (Ecclesiastes 9:5), until the day he is resurrected.ledgeRAILz wrote: ↑Mon Jun 09, 2025 2:53 pm .

Post #13Who did King Saul see? He saw the spirit of a dead Samuel the prophet come up out of the ground. When the apostles saw Jesus walking on water, Matthew 14:26, "they thought it was a spirit (ghost)." What do you think these men meant by that?onewithhim wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 9:23 pmThe spirit we have is God's breath, or, his power. What or who was with Jesus on the Mt. of Transfiguration? Was it Moses himself, or his spirit, the disciples saw? We know Moses died, and there is no mention of him ever being resurrected. But his spirit went to be with the LORD.
John in Revelation was taken up into heaven, not his physical body, but his spirit. Paul was taken up into heaven, not in his physical body, but in his spirit body.
John in Revelation 17:3, said, "He (an angel) carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness." Remember, there were no space suits at that time.
Angels and Jesus (Jehovah) are spirit creatures that can wear the flesh of men. Genesis 17:1, "When Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD (Jehovah) appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God:" Now, as you claim, no man has ever seen the Father, so it had to be Jesus (Jehovah) Abram saw.
Three spirits approached Abraham in the plains of Mamre. One was Jehovah (Jesus), and the other two were angels covered with the flesh of men. Abraham washed Jehovah's feet, gave him water, and bread to eat. Again, if no man has ever seen the Father, it was Jesus (Jehovah) that Abraham was with.
Who was in Abraham's bosom? It was the spirit of the beggar at the gate who physically died, and his spirit went to be with the Lord.
See how simple it is if one opens their heart and mind to the truth.

Two "deaths" are described in the scriptures in regards to mankind.
The first death is appointed to all of mankind.
The second and everlasting death is when those whose names are not written in the Book of Life are cast into the lake of fire and perish.
They will die instantly, and never live again.
So yes, all of mankind will live again after their first death.
But the second death ends a human life for all eternity.

Re: Is there life after death?
Post #15Saul saw a demon pretending to be Samuel, and the three disciples on the Mt. of the Transfiguration saw a vision, not the actual persons of Moses and Elijah. John also saw a vision when "carried away into the wilderness." Nothing of him was literally carried away. If the angel who appeared to Abraham said "I am the Almighty God," he couldn't have been Jesus saying that he was the Almighty God. This angel was there representing the Almighty God, so what he said came from Jehovah. The angel was instructed what to say and sent in place of Jehovah.placebofactor wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 2:11 pmWho did King Saul see? You seem to have a problem with accepting the fact that "no man has seen the Father." That is true because He said that no one could see Him and live. If Jehovah is Jesus, then many people have seen the Father because they have seen Jesus. The scriptures are rendered useless by your teaching (John 1:18; Genesis 33:20) Your reasoning is somewhat convoluted, wouldn't you say? John 1:18 says that the only begotten Son has explained the Father, not that he IS the Father.
The story of the Rich Man and Lazarus is totally symbolic and not to be taken literally. It was Jesus' way of revealing the Pharisees for who they were---- feeling disgust toward the common people and shirking their responsibility to take care of them according to Jehovah's laws and principles. Apparently you cannot grasp the deeper meaning of the story. You are on the surface, and attributing this story to be literal when it is meant to be figurative.
I hope that all here will "open their hearts and minds to the truth." The truth can be had, and it is indeed simple.

The Watchtower teaches death is a "State of nonexistence; of complete unconsciousness, that the dead can do nothing and cannot feel anything, no thoughts, nothing left. How can something that is non-existent come back to life. More nonsense from the Watchtower.
Yet, in the same breath, they claim, "But there is hope for the dead that they return to life." WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Listen to yourself. Your words are a combination of contradictions, otherwise known as an Oxymoron!!!!!

So for a deceased human to come back to life it would have to to born again as a human.

Post #20H'mmmmm! You confused me with the word "it." I never heard of anyone but a Jehovah's Witness call a human being an it. For example, they refer to the Holy Spirit as "it." In what way do you mean born again? Born again in spirit before they die, or born again after they passed away? Please explain. Or are you speaking of the resurrection of the dead?myth-one.com wrote: ↑Thu Jun 19, 2025 12:07 amHuman life is the result of being born of the flesh as a human.placebofactor wrote: ↑Fri Jun 13, 2025 10:53 am How can something that is non-existent come back to life.
