It is simply a matter of Perspective.
For a scientist (or philosopher...), skepticism can be seen to be a virtue, a necessity in the proper functioning of critical thought.
For a Xtian, it can certainly be seen as a "bad thing" (at least when directed at one's 'beliefs'). 'Critical thought' and 'beliefs' being diametrical opposites on a continuum.
