Contradictions in Holy Books

Post by Pazuzu bin Hanbi »

Take a work of fiction, say the Middle Earth of JRR Tolkien, or Frank Herbert’s Dune, or Scott Westerfeld’s The Risen Empire. I haven’t hunted through them for contradictions, but it remains entirely possible that the author made these fictional worlds internally coherent, and containing no contradictions.

How does this prove the validity of the claims made in the writings themselves though? If a Bible or Qur’ân can be shown as completely coherent and containing no contradictions, how does this prove that god exists and that the scriptures’ particular version of god actually exists?

Wyvern, all things are proven with great details, what else you want? we cant just stuck on 1 topic, just because you dont want to admit the facts.
So you say but when ANYTHING claims something is created, not made but created out of five different things it is an obvious contradiction no matter how much you twist the wording or the meanings of the words. Again this is a matter of you requiring your holy book to be literally correct and apparantly scientifically correct as well. If you could say that your book was never meant to be literally true nor was it meant to be taken as a source of scientific knowledge we would not be having this discussion.
The point which you are making here is unacceptable Wyvern,
Suppose, you say water is made of Hydrogen and Oxygen, this will be a contradiction as well from my point of view, so justify me in anyway, I wont be convinced, as its a plain contradiction, 2 different things are involved in water.

So to you saying water is made of oxygen and hydrogen is a contradiction even though it can be easily shown to be true. But take the body and you see no problem with a 1400 year old book saying the body is made from blood clots, a drop of sperm, dust, clay, and nothing and you can see no contradiction?
I don't think I can help you if you do not understand basic chemistry. Water is not an element.

Wyvern, as you said above,

Same in this way, whatever you say about water, I wont be convinced, as water is made of 2 different things, so its a plain contradiction. Sorry but your logic Ive to apply on you as well.

I can show through simple chemistry that water is made of two elements, give me a battery and I can even break it down into its two basic elements with ease. Can you do the same with your claims? If so lets see it. I want to see you break down a human body and show me the dust and clay that your book claims man is made of. Show me the nothing which your book claims man is made of.

You really do have a serious lack of comprehension of english. Scotracer deleted his post it has nothing to do with anything else. If you do not want to defend your position anymore that's understandable given how precarious it is.
