Questions about Jesus and JW’s

Post by MissKate13 »

1. Jehovah’s Witnesses say Jesus was “a god.” This is how the NWT reads (John 1:1).

Do JW’s believe Jesus was a true or false god?

2. JW’s say Jesus is a created being.

When was Jesus (capital or lower case g) created?

I look forward to your responses to one or both questions.

Sorry, I lost to follow this thread, through context, as Jesus himself will be subjected to the Father who put all things in subjection under Jesus, this does not mean that Jesus is not the same state of being God with the Father.
If by "the same state if being " you mean YHWH the Father is a spirit , Jesus is a spirit and angels are spirits Agreed.
No, being "deity or Godhead" in Greek "θεότης theotēs" which lexicon defined as "the state of being God". (Col 2:9)

G2320 (Thayer)
θεότης
theotēs
Thayer Definition:
1) deity
1a) the state of being God, Godhead

I font know what that means? A deity is simply a god and God just means powerful one, so angels are gods. I font know what "the state of being God, Godhead" MEANS.
  • Being one head of a two-headed individual?
  • Being a spirit just as YHWH the Father is a spirit?
  • Being powerful?
  • Being Almighty ?
  • Being equal in power, rank and age to the the Father?

I don't know what "the state of being God, Godhead" means? Do you?

Yes, and that doesn't mean that they are all equal.

And you don't know that we are the same in the state of being human? Or you are not human.

My point is about the Father and Jesus, I believe you have ESV a word for word translation. I don't prefer paraphrase translations as Bible words in Hebrew and Greek not exist. John 1:18 says, yes they are equal and the same in the state of being God.

Jhn 1:18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

So by the state of being God, Godhead you mean simply both are spirits? Like both Donald Trump and I are human?

The Father and Jesus the same as "being God" just like you and Pres Trump same as "being human".
Text Critical translation Updated American Standard Version, rendered John 1:18 as "the only begotten God had seen the Father."

John 1:18 (UASV+) No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God   who is in the bosom of the Father,  that one has made him fully known

Okay so when you say "God being" you mean the same "species" , the same lifeform like me and Trump are not animals ...we are both the same type or catagory of lifeform. Is that what you mean by "God being".

Incorrect. Angels are not gods, angels are God's messengers. Biblehub.com Strong's Hebrew 4398 Malak, angel, messenger. Hope this helps you. To learn more about how angels are not gods go to www.Gotquestions.org.

Incorrect. Angels are not gods ...

King James Bible
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels [HEBREW Elohim = god(s)] , and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

PSALM 8v5 - Literal Standard Version

You make him a little lower than the gods [[or God]] , "" And surround him with glory and majesty.
BrotherBerry wrote: Sat Mar 01, 2025 6:11 pm To learn more about how angels are not gods go to www.Gotquestions.org.
www.gotquestions wrote: "The Hebrew word translated “gods” in Psalm 82:6 is elohim. The term elohim is most frequently used to refer to the one true God, but it does have other uses. Yahweh is referred to as the Elohim above all elohim (Psalm 95:3). Other uses of the term elohim include spiritual beings such as angels (Job 2:1; 38:7); demons, idols, and gods of foreign nations (Genesis 35:4; Deuteronomy 32:17; 1 Kings 11:33); and the disembodied dead (1 Samuel 28:13). The Hebrew word elohim is also translated “judges” in Exodus 21:6 and 22:8, 9, and 28" []¨{end quote}
