Was Jesus seen?
Post #1To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

Re: Was Jesus seen?
Post #2I think a better question would have been, "Why was it important that Jesus was seen?" But concerning your question, Thousands saw Jesus. Beginning at his birth and ending when he was raised in Acts 1:9-10. Then again, by Paul and John.

Re: Was Jesus seen?
Post #3No one has yet seen Jesus, even Adam and Eve didn’t see Jesus when they departed this world. Even those who are now in the After Life, no one has yet seen Jesus, the Almighty God who incarnated Himself in the flesh of the Son of God, per se.
The Son of God, per se, the man-named Jesus and the physical vessel of Jesus in His incarnation, was the one seen by many during His life with the apostles and disciples.

Re: Was Jesus seen?
Post #4Thank-you for the direct answer to my question. We could quibble over whether Paul saw Jesus or a had a vision of him, but we agree that according to the authoritative Bible many individuals saw Jesus and that is the important point of my question here.placebofactor wrote: ↑Tue Feb 17, 2026 6:19 pmI think a better question would have been, "Why was it important that Jesus was seen?" My next question: Do you agree with 1 John 4:12?

Re: Was Jesus seen?
Post #5Not sure what you're asking. Has anyone seen the Father? No. Has anyone seen Jesus Christ, the Creator, Colossians 1:16, and John 1:3, Yes! Abraham saw the Almighty (Jesus), Genesis 17:1, "The LORD (Jehovah) appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God, walk before me." Also, Manoah and his wife in Judges 13, Jacob wrestled with God, Moses, Joshua, and others also saw him.Tcg wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 11:44 amThank-you for the direct answer to my question. Re: Was Jesus seen?
Post #10You had better reread all the verses again. Genesis 17:1, "When Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD (Jehovah) APPEARED to Abram, and said unto him, I AM THE ALMIGHTY GOD;" walk before me, and you will be perfect (blameless.)" That's pretty clear.OneJack wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 8:30 pmplacebofactor wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 12:45 pmNot sure what you're asking. Has anyone seen the Father? You wrote, "Those people saw angels as God’s manifestations to each of them to whom the Lord appeared and talked. The Almighty is only one, and He is the Father, whose name is Jesus."
Also, you need to understand that the word "angel" doesn't mean some creature flying around the earth with wings. The word angel means "messenger." Someone who is sent to deliver a message. In Judges 13, this messenger came from the Father. He came to Manoah and his wife and delivered his message. Now, either you know more than Manoah and his wife or you're not understanding what you're reading. Manoah in verse 22 said, "WE SHALL SURELY DIE, BECAUSE WE HAVE SEEN GOD." The word Manoah used for God is "Elohiym."
When Jacob wrestled with this man in Genesis, he said in 32:30, "I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." Jacob also used the word "Elohiym" Again, either you know more than Jacob, or you need to reconsider your thinking.
