No offense, Yahdough, but I'm sure God asks more of us than quoting the Bible when engaged in debate about God.
Of course, God doesn't exist, so everything Yahdough says is comical - if it weren't so offensive to Reason and civil discourse.

So if a kid puts his hand on a stove turned up on high and burns his hand, is it the parents fault? Is the parent then responsible to remove the burn, or should things like this teach us common sense??

No, according to Christians. They say that we deserve eternal torment for our sins. This torment is due to us because God said so. We are all sinners, we cannot help but to be that. The punishment for sins is a decision God has made. But the Christians believe that they have found redemption in Jesus' sacrifice. They avoid the punishment that we are told we all deserve. And they believe that they should be grateful for this atonement.YahDough wrote:According to what Christians? I think you mean according to the "ex-Christians".
But I am grateful God helps me to live a life that is worthy of blessings from Him and not "beatings".
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

But I am grateful God helps me to live a life that is worthy of blessings from Him and not "beatings".What do you mean by "eternal"? Judgment for all a given, but everlasting torment for finite sins is false teaching. That would make God unjust. No, according to Christians. They say that we deserve eternal torment for our sins.
Where does God say "everlasting torment" for anyone. That's dogma. This torment is due to us because God said so.
With the help of God we can quit sinning. If fact, that is a requirement. We are all sinners, we cannot help but to be that.
Amen. Believers are not appointed to the wrath of God. An atoned life consecrated to God should express gratitude to the Creator. The punishment for sins is a decision God has made. But the Christians believe that they have found redemption in Jesus' sacrifice. They avoid the punishment that we are told we all deserve. And they believe that they should be grateful for this atonement.

Hebrews 10:26-27
New International Version (NIV)
26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

But according to Christian teaching, we have all been sinners. If anyone claims not to have been, they are lying. If god punishes anyone, it will be for something we could not have possibly avoided.YahDough wrote:With the help of God we can quit sinning. If fact, that is a requirement.

Post #148Your key words "...have all been sinners." In Christ, it is what we are and will be, not what we have been.McCulloch wrote:McCulloch wrote:We are all sinners, we cannot help but to be that. But according to Christian teaching, we have all been sinners. How is it that believers are still under judgement?
How is it that believers are still under judgement?
1 Corinthians 11:29-31
New International Version (NIV)
29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.

You said it yourself a couple posts back:How is it that believers are still under judgement?
Repentance for a believer is to be accompanied by a life consecrated to the will of God, in Christ.Hebrews 10:26-27
New International Version (NIV)
26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
