Paul said that the scriptures say Jesus died according to the scriptures
WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT?
Paul says Jesus was buried and rose again on the third day ACCORDING to the scriptures.
WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT?
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, UNLESS YE HAVE BELIEVED IN VAIN. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES

Re: MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION to be answered
Post #11While we are getting away from the topic and talking about the status of David,
Psalm 16
A miktam[a] of David.
1 Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.
2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”
3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.
I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
or take up their names on my lips.
5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
I get the reference to the Holy ones of Israel. But just where is there anything to think that David is including himself with them?

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

I must assume that knowing is better than not knowing, venturing than not venturing; and that magic and illusion, however rich, however alluring, ultimately weaken the human spirit.

Re: MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION to be answered
Post #13It's a song. Maybe David wrote it, and sung it, but it can be sung by anyone. I think we are to more generally interpret the speaker as any faithful / holy one.Tcg wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 12:08 pmThe holy one being spoken of is David the author of this Psalm. This is clear when context is established:theophile wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 8:28 am [Replying to Avoice in post #1]
Why is that the most important question? I haven't studied this, but a quick research yielded a reasonable solution. Common belief (feel free to pressure test) was that bodily decay began on the third day after death. And Psalm 16 verse 10 promises that God will not let their holy one "see decay."
Psalm 16:
8 I have set the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;
my flesh also dwells secure.
10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,
or let your holy one see corruption.

But hey, I like Transponder's connection to Jonah much better. Although it doesn't give any reason for why 3 days.

Re: MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION to be answered
Post #14I don't see it. The translation is Faithful one rather than Holy one, and given that the Psalms often seem to have been written by a musician For David rather than By David, in this case, it must be David (ostensibly) talking as no harpist would describe himself as the favoured on of the Lord. Supposing the Lord being God rather than the king. How does the Psalm look to you?
