Is the biblical Jehovah the most EVIL god ever imagined …?

The God of the Bible claims Himself exclusive.

So does the God of the Qur'an. Perhaps we should all convert to Islam. Right?

By definition there are no other equals to Him.

By who's definition? Who defined that there are no other Gods equal to the God of the Bible?

Have you forgotten that the Greek God of Zeus was at one time considered to be the God of Gods?

I assume you all are atheists? From what moral authority do you assign these terms from?

There are two ways I could answer that.

1) Mine; or

2) Moral authority is not required to come up with those terms.

Bible God is not evil, because he doesn’t do anything evil or wrong.

Amos 3:6

Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

The Book of Amos describes God as planning the burning of seven cities. Of course, if everyone in those cities were worshipping other gods, then they’d deserve to die and God would be perfectly right and good to burn them to death. [/sarcasm]

I guess if he makes the rules about what’s good and what’s evil, then he can add a ‘self-absolvement’ clause to anything.

Evil seems to be subjective opinion. God has given life, so He has right to decide how long life He gives. it is not evil, if He doesn’t allow everyone to live forever.

Well that was pretty EVIL …!....

And if we look what the whole story and don’t cherry pick like common atheist, we can notice that the hardening happened by ending plague. I think it would have been bad to allow the plagues to continue for ever just to keep pharaohs heart soft.

You might have missed the part of my post when I quoted from the bible:

�shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?�

This seems to clearly indicate that if anything evil happens in a city, then it’s God who has done it. Perhaps an outrageous slander by the author? With all the other figurative and poetic language scattered throughout the bible, it’s often frustratingly difficult to work out some passages’ meaning, but this one verse doesn’t look at all vague.

Maybe (since you said that evil seems to be a matter of subjective opinion), if God does something we think is ‘evil’, then it isn’t - just because he’s God. It’s only our opinion.

I don’t know about you, but I’d be very suspicious of following any moral code that came from anyone who acted like that.

Talk about cherry picking! God told Moses in advance that he would harden the pharaohs's heart so everything that resulted was due to the malicious machinations of God. Beside that, none of it was necessary to achieve the ultimate aim. Destroying innocent people and their livelihood just to convince a mere human to change his mind is evil.

I wouldn't. That person might be higher than I am morally, and "do as I say, not as I do," might be justified.
