I agree completely and you make an important observation that I had not completely considered.

My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

"I also like to point out that you say "whatever morals atheists retain"...as if once one becomes an atheist, they lose morals, they don't have the same quality or quantity of morals as good ol' God fearin' Christians do!
Good catch, and good point

I will never understand how someone who claims to know the ultimate truth, of God, believes they deserve respect, when they cannot distinguish it from a fairy-tale.
You know, science and logic are hard: Religion and fairy tales might be more your speed.
To continue to argue for the Hebrew invention of God is actually an insult to the very concept of a God. - Divine Insight

Hey mate. I never responded to this post, but I've gone back to re-read it a few times since and I just don't think your responses dealt with the points I had raised, perhaps due to some miscommunication. Been a bit too lazy to try to clear things up, but my exchange with Bust Nak in the last page or so might more clearly explain the concepts that I was originally trying to convey, especially post #60. If not, let me know which points I ought to answer - I don't want to give your comments the short shrift!

Yeah, that has been a re-occurring theme. I have been unable to find a story unique to the OT, particularly.
I have also been unable to find any real evidence of the OT existing much before 70 BC.
Putting these two ideas together, it make you wonder if the OT was simply a cludge of stories written into epic theme, and then, somehow believed.
I think it was done quite deliberately, the Romans putting it together, taking advantage of the ignorance the Sadducee kept Jerusalem in so they could rule.
But I don't really know.
