As I have been pondering more implicitly about the question of nonnegotiable faith-based beliefs - particularly for the purpose of being able to identify arguments which are a waste of time even attempting to debate, and those which are not - I have come up with a short list of common - mainly Christian based ones - which I thought I would throw out there to see what others think.
Feel free to add other nonnegotiable faith-based beliefs you think should be on this list as well.
My picks
1: The GOD of the OT is 'The one and only true GOD'.
2: Jesus was the promised Messiah
3: Jesus was a messenger of the OT GOD.
4: The bible is the 'inerrant word of GOD'
I have thought of others, but since they can be subsets of these 4 main ones, see little point in listing them.
Q: What can definitely be considered nonnegotiable faith-based beliefs?

What to look for when attempting to identify NNFBBs

You are perhaps quite correct that no objective evidence can be provided for the possible existence of - lets use the generic - "Afterlife", but my own experiences which I have written plenty about;
My thoughts on death.
Looking into the science of Astral Projection
Near Death Experiences
...should not give the reader any cause to think I am investing FAITH in the idea. Certainly I am seeing it as inevitable whether I might like it or not.
My comment was to someone who does indeed believe in afterlife, and a specific type of afterlife which involves being judged by an Entity in the role of a GOD, which I am simply mirroring back at my accuser in a language he will certainly understand.
Do I have faith that what I wrote will be the actual outcome? Hardly. I couldn't care less, but from the evidence pertaining to such experiences, the likelihood the next phase will involve a complete and utter revealing of the individuals deepest hidden aspects of their self, and it will be that which 'judges' them in their nakedness ... as far as justice is concerned, that would be a really good type of justice - maybe the best even - so I take the possibility seriously enough to make sure I get to know as much as I can in this phase about my true self - as a matter of cautionary prudence - and deal with any darkness therein while the opportunity affords itself to do so. If I am to stand naked before myself, I want to at least fell good about that prospect.
Am I open to any negotiation in relation to that belief? Sure! Bring it to the table. I will parley.
Those champions will eventually face the music when the fat lady sings and shows them their image of GOD was faulty.
I am certainly happy to explore your attempt to identify non-negotiable faith-based belief in what I said above Tcg.Tcg wrote:Another non-negotiable faith based belief. It's not only one you didn't provide evidence for, it's one you can't present evidence for.
