If god doesn't follow his own rules, why should we?

*Let's assume the Christian god is real*

This is mostly about the Old Testament where many rules (the 10 Commandments for instance) are listed. If god so rarely follows his own rules and often switches character traits, why should we follow anything he says? Wouldn't his lack of consistency make him rather pathetic as a supreme leader?

Also, why should we follow something even if we find it immoral? Why is harming other humans in the name of god justified? Or, why is god allowed to get away with killing, harming, or ignoring us, yet whenever something good happens, he gets all the credit?

One-True-God of Islam/Quran , not in any case Jesus-god-of-Pauline-Christianity, follows the set principles made by Him:

[33:63] Such has been the way of Allah in the case of those who passed away before, and thou wilt never find a change in the way* of Allah.

Can you tell me and quote a piece of scripture in the Bible where God of Judeo-Christian origin purposely and maliciously kills babies?

Why didn't God kill you when you were a baby?

If Allah hates Christians and he is the sovereign God of the Universe, why does he allow babies who he no doubt knows will be Christians to survive?

Do you hate Christians and other non-believers -- the infidel?

Do you know everything there is to know such as how many hairs on my head or why atoms and matter behave the way they do?

Does Allah love everyone and not just Muslims?

If you can answer these questions without anger, we can continue? If not, I quit and readers will have to determine who is trying to be the most reasonable even if they don't totally agree with one or the other position.

I just wonder what this statement means to you? Did Allah die for you? Jesus died for me (Mat 27).

Luke 19:27
27And these enemies of mine who were unwilling for me to rule over them, bring them here and slay them in front of me.
Taken out of context. Jesus was telling a parable and it was the character in the parable who said that.

mms20102 wrote: Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler;
whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

Ephesians 5:18
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit
None of these were said by Jesus.
Furthermore, what is being demonised here is not wine but drunkedness.

See:

Pro 31:6-7
Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

Psa 104:14-15
He makes grass grow for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate— bringing forth food from the earth: wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart

Ecclesiastes 9:7 Go, eat your food with rejoicing and drink your wine with a good heart, because already the [true] God has found pleasure in your works.

Society and its morals evolve and will continue to evolve. The bible however remains the same and just requires more and more apologetics and claims of "metaphors" and "symbolism" to justify it.

Prayer is like rubbing an old bottle and hoping that a genie will pop out and grant you three wishes.

There is much about this world that is mind boggling and impressive, but I see no need whatsoever to put it down to magical super powered beings.

I pray for your soul when the Lamb will finally come and you realize we Christians were right all along, only by then, it will be too late.

Jesus did not die on the Cross, so he died as anybody dies, he did not die for one. One has a wrong notion, please.

If one loves Jesus, one should be happy to know that Jesus did not die a cursed death on the Cross. What makes one unhappy to know this, please?
Word of God tells us this:
[4:156] Then, because of their breaking of their covenant, and their denial of the Signs of Allah, and their seeking to kill the Prophets unjustly, and their saying: ‘Our hearts are wrapped in covers,’ — nay, but Allah has sealed them because of their disbelief, so they believe not but little —
[4:157] And because of their disbelief and their uttering against Mary a grievous calumny,
[4:158] And their saying, ‘We did kill the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah;’ whereas they slew him not, nor crucified him, but he was made to appear to them like one crucified; and those who differ therein are certainly in a state of doubt about it; they have no definite knowledge thereof, but only follow a conjecture; and they did not convert this conjecture into a certainty;
[4:159] On the contrary, Allah exalted him to Himself. And Allah is Mighty, Wise.

Right, please?

Thank you for the question paarsurray1!

Briefly, the death of Christ is not as important to Christians as His resurrection, in which He conquered death itself for the rest of humanity. If there was no death of Jesus, there would be no resurrection. No resurrection, no promise of everlasting life for anyone (John 3:16).

How do we know these things came to pass? These events are two of the most documented in all the Bible and all of history. These accounts occur most predominantly in all four Gospels giving similar details (Mathew 27-28; Mark 14-15; John 18-20; Luke 22-24). They were also written on average 40 years after Jesus died (Landau, 2017).

Beyond this, independent authors have studied and written about these two events in history since the original apostles writing and these scholars have found evidence that the support the original claims (Joseph K. 2016; Stott, 2012; Limbaugh, 2017, 2015, 2014; Anghel, 2017; Wilson, 2016; Stroud, 2017; Wright, 2009; Gathercole, 2017; Edwards, Gabel, & Hosmer, 1986; Strobel, 1986; Landau, 2017; Gumble, 1991/2017; Habermas, 1981). There are probably much more on the authenticity of Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection.

Yes, the Bible and the Koran said similar things such as when Jesus says:
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (John 14:6) and in the OT it says Yahweh claims through John “I am the Alpha and the Omega….who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. (Revelation 1:8).
The question is who said what and when?

For me, I live with disability and I am convinced by faith that Jesus died for my sins on the cross and as a result, I will live again, better than before for all eternity. I also can talk to God directly about what I want and when without prescriptive as Muslims do. I just believe it is a more authentic way to communicate with God.

I end with a quote from Joseph K from the beginning of his book Legal Proof for the Deity Death and Resurrection of Jesus. I think, for a non-biblical explanation, he summarizes what the Christian faith is all about. He writes:
Christian faith is the most reasonable faith. It encourages reasoning. It is not afraid of criticism from anyone. The God of the Bible challenges man, saying: come let us reason together. God also commands us to be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks for the reason of the hope in you. Because the Christian faith gives the highest possible level of proof than any other faith system gives. It gives much more proof than we use in the normal life process. Christians claim that the Christ event occurred in ‘objective’ history. Christian faith can be established to be true as it rests on definite historical facts and events which are so direct and strong. Christian faith has a variety of independent and converging proofs that it has been acknowledged again and again by great lawyers as proved under the strictest rules of evidence.
Finally, Romans 10:17 says “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Sorry for the delay in response and I hope we can continue the debate.
