I've been off & on this site for a while now. As of late, I've seen a lot of arguing and bickering between Christians and non-Christians (sometimes even between Christians). I have learned much during my time here, but I wonder if others can say the same, as it seems some just want to speak down to others that don't share their beliefs.
While that can be, at times, enjoyable if you're in the mood to be dismissive, I wonder if there are many commonalities between believers and non-believers.
What commonalities do we share? Can they be listed and agreed upon?
Or does the nature of belief/non-belief itself make so that we have more differences?

Both agree that non-Christian religions are false.
EDIT: Never mind I didn't read closely. You said Christians and non-Christians.

Post #3Most people of good will, believer and non-believer alike, embrace the Golden Rule. At least in theory if not in practice.imhereforyou wrote: I've been off & on this site for a while now. My theological positions:
-God created us in His image, not the other way around.
-The Bible is redeemed by it's good parts.
-Pure monotheism, simple repentance.
-YHVH is LORD
-The real Jesus is not God, the real YHVH is not a monster.
-Eternal life is a gift from the Living God.
-Keep the Commandments, keep your salvation.
-I have accepted YHVH as my Heavenly Father, LORD and Savior.
I am inspired by Jesus to worship none but YHVH, and to serve only Him.

There are lots of things we all agree on.
We agree that reason, experience, and empirical evidence can lead us closer to the truth. We agree that kindness and integrity are good and that cruelty and malice are bad. We agree that 2 + 2 = 4 and that the speed of light is constant. (Well, that last one might be in called into question.)
This this site is devoted to debating religious belief, so most of the conversations focus on areas of disagreement.

Post #5We share a humanity; good people are generally good regardless of their religious roots. I say generally because sometimes religion can make good folk do bad things.
When God is locked away and humans are allowed to get on with the job of being human, then goodness has the same taste and smell. Being kind, helping our neighbour, visiting the sick, healing others ... we need no God to instruct us in these virtues. God is often divisive.
