Hypothetical: You're god now

Post by The Duke of Vandals »

I watched part of Bruce Almighty (I like Morgan Freeman...) and thought of a scenario I'd like to share.

God appears to you and hands you a magic wand that makes you all-knowing and all-powerful... but not quite as powerful and wise as god. He tells you that he wants to test you. You're tasked to create a hypothetical universe that exists outside our own universe. He tells you that you should use the parameters of our universe as a guide (i.e. Free will = good. Square circles = bad, etc.), but nor is he looking for a carbon copy of our universe.

The debate is to describe what universe you'd make, what attributes it would have, and why they're "good".

Your thoughts.

I would create a universe where hatred does not exist, that is hatred without a cause. There would be no use for money, everyone would share and care for each other. Where there would be drop dead gorgeous guys left and right, LOL!!!

Madeline

I will at least second the drop dead gorgeous guys.

Kudos to Madeline for taking a stab at the op... I was hoping for a little more. Tell me more about why you qualified hatred.

The problem is that drop dead gorgeous in men or women, is subjective. If this

were the cutest guys in your universe, then I would be drop dead gorgeous.

On the other hand, if everyone in your universe was drop dead gorgeous by this universe's standard, they would just be ordinary there.

I guess the first thing I would have to do is convince myself I exist.

Why would I want to create a universe? The answer to this question would shape the parameters of the universe I would create. If it was to be a cerebral exercise in the possible initial conditions and laws and see how it would turn out, then I'm not that interested, thanks.

Maybe it would be to create other sentient beings. If that was the case, then I would not waste huge amounts of time and space. The universe would consist of a planet, with atmosphere, biosphere and a magic dome around it that provided a big light (on one side) and a sort of night-light on the other. No need to waste billions of cubic light years of virtually empty space to with massively big stars so far away that they only appear as pinpricks on the planet. A bunch of smaller ones embedded in the sky-shell would do. I'd save on time too. Six days perhaps to make the whole thing.

Well actually I take back what I said. I guess my ideal universe would fit how heaven is described in the bible. 8-)
