Ok confession time. Last night my son needed a lift. Like most parents I was the taxi. On the way I made a left at a junction where no left turn is permitted. Pro: turning left goes with the traffic. Con: there is a pedestrian crossing. Pro: there were no pedestrians. Excuse: it is a common manoeuvre. Con: a police car was positioned just out of sight pulling anyone over who made that manoeuvre . Result: £30 on the spot fine, or £60 fine and 3 points on my licence if I wanted to contest. I paid the fine this morning.
Annoying thing: it is a manoeuvre I often think about but usually resist. I only took it because my son would be late.
I’ve told him its obviously his fault, he should of stopped me do something stupid .
Question: do theists obey the law of the road more or less that atheists? Honest answers please. Who's the most guilty?
Note for North Americans: In the UK a left turn is made without crossing the opposing stream of traffic, like a right turn here. They drive on the wrong side of the road.
Examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good. First Epistle to the Church of the Thessalonians The truth will make you free. Gospel of John
In my experience all humans are rather horrible drivers when it comes to both the minutia of traffic law, as presented here, and major violations of safety. It varies by location, but in general I doubt their exists a philosophical divide.
I've driven in most U.S. states and observed driving in several countries. Some places are better than others, but in general, driving is a human activity that defies explanation. It really is a wonder that so few people die when you consider to possibilities.

Now I'm a theist and believe that the majority of Americans believe in God. So I would say theist break traffic volitions more than atheist.
I am guilty but in my defense have not received a traffic volition in about a year.
Do you believe that you should drive carefully because God tells you so, or because it is the safe thing to do and you really don't want to hurt anyone?

I am not sure were God tells me anything about driving safely. I do believe in driving safely to not hurt anyone.
I think that in the future, driving your own vehicle at all will be considered a sin.
Just as slavery was taken for granted in the ancient world as part of the natural order of things, and today we think it an obvious evil, the perspective of the future may be very different.
I read an SF story years ago wherein a fellow woke up a couple of hundred years from now. In one of those throwaway scenes out in to establish "this is in the future", he is riding with another guy in an automated vehicle that takes them to their destination guided by computers. He remarks, "Back in my day everyone drove his own car."
The other guy turns pale and gasps, "My God! Thousands of people must have been killed every year! It must have been a horrible bloodbath!"
The first guy thought for a second and said, "It was."
"What was WRONG with you people?"
Perceptions of morality change with the times, and what is a nonissue for us may one day be seen as incredibly benighted and evil, like slavery in the Bible is today.

Doesn't the Bible teach you to follow the laws of your country? Doesn't Jesus teach to do unto others ...?

I only just noticed this because...well it's a long story, but I recently had to re-tune the contrast on my monitor so that I could see a picture of the supposed 'ghost' Twin Towers on another board.
You're naughty.
I don't know who abides by the law of the road more. All I'll say is I've been to Italy (Catholic country) and I was glad to leave in one piece. They drive on the wrong side of the road.
