AGAIN, another proof that the Abrahamic religions have been dissed in the face of the corronavirus fierce outbreaks in Europe and the US, by "God(s)" in favor of Eastern faiths!
Anyone care to discuss the disparity of cases and deaths in China and Hong Kong compared with what's happening in the West?

Post #2The West has become post-Christian and the vast majority are simply cultural Christians. US and Europe has long abandoned Christianity and most are just living off the momentum of a Christian heritage.2Dbunk wrote: AGAIN, another proof that the Abrahamic religions have been dissed in the face of the corronavirus fierce outbreaks in Europe and the US, by "God(s)" in favor of Eastern faiths!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PostchristianityPostchristianity is the loss of the primacy of the Christian worldview in public affairs, especially in the Western world where Christianity had previously flourished, in favor of alternative worldviews such as secularism, nationalism,[2] environmentalism[3] and militant atheism[4] amongst many other ideologies. It can also include personal world views, ideologies, religious movements or societies, such as veganism or ethical veganism[5], that are no longer necessarily rooted in the language and assumptions of Christianity, at least explicitly, although they had previously been in an environment of ubiquitous Christianity (i.e. Christendom).
The East is not able to tackle coronavirus better because of their Eastern religions. It's because they are experienced with handling past epidemics.

It could be argued that Western religions have always been in a state of continuing evolution. So, in that sense, the COVID-19 crisis is potentially just the latest natural pressure guiding the evolution of Western religions through the process of theological selection already in progress.

As far as changes in our religion, I can only speak with authority about my own (Jehovah's Witnesses). So far we have lost at least 10 of our members to the illness but appart from modifying our methods nothing has changed in our practise and I strongly suspect the present problems will prompt an increase in our membership.
From speaking with my brothers and sister, far from undermining our faith and causing confusion, the impact of coronavirus only serves to strengthen our conviction we are living in the last days and our resolve to preach the good news of the kingdom before the Lord tells us the work is complete.

Perhaps the gods worshipped in Eastern religions saw to it that the East had this experience handling past epidemics. It is said that "God works in mysterious ways." Perhaps this is true of all gods.

To be clear: Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

Post #6Post-Christian does not mean people who claim to be Christians are in the minority. It means Christianity's relevance is waning and is no longer the dominant factor in society. "Postchristianity is the loss of the primacy of the Christian worldview in public affairs."Tcg wrote: Given that 65-70% of those living in the U.S. claim to be Christians, declaring the West "post-Christian" may be a bit premature.
https://www.allaboutworldview.org/post-christian.htmThen, in April 2009, president Obama opined to a Turkish audience, We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation; we consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values. Earlier, Obama the candidate told CBNs David Brody, "Whatever we once were, we're no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.
For those who hold Trump as a Christian leader, I would simply rest my case.
BTW, surprised that any skeptic would disagree that the West is post-Christian. But feel free to start another thread to debate this.
I personally do believe the coronavirus was allowed from God. And I'm getting more convinced it'll be just one of a series of judgments on this world.Perhaps the gods worshipped in Eastern religions saw to it that the East had this experience handling past epidemics. It is said that "God works in mysterious ways." Perhaps this is true of all gods.

How can an event that fulfills all Christian prophecy that the pagan nations are / will be punished on earth be seen as a contradiction to Christianity?? <headshake, facepalm>

That is no more significant than 'prophesying' that water in the liquid form will be wet
That is an example of a grandiose 'prophesy' that is so vague as to be meaningless. 'Punishment' of nations can be taken to mean nearly any negative event -- and all nations encounter negative events.Charles wrote: How can an event that fulfills all Christian prophecy that the pagan nations are / will be punished on earth be seen as a contradiction to Christianity??

Who are you classifying as pagan: Western Christianity or the Eastern religions?

And what about those of Islamic faith -- are they post Islam? Iran, perhaps the most dedicated nation to Islam, is suffering hugely from this pandemic!
And though we have become more isolationist from Asian affair (other than trade), does that mean that "the greatest nation on earth" has lessened its understanding of Eastern problems and ways, like some third world country?
Of course it's not God showing favoritism toward the East over the West because "He" likely doesn't exist. What god could be that insidious?

Perhaps to some degree, but you always have the orthodox and fundamentalists of Jewish and Christian sects. The West has become post-Christian and the vast majority are simply cultural Christians. US and Europe has long abandoned Christianity and most are just living off the momentum of a Christian heritage.

This argument is impotent in the face of the Trump administration not continuing the task force assigned to work with China on the possibility of novel viruses originating in Asia. American funding for that joint task force was eliminated last summer.

So America is above and beyond studying/cateloguing the findings of Taiwan and South Korea concerning infectious disease, knowing full well that the planet keeps getting smaller each day?Applying lessons learned from the MERS outbreak in 2015, Korea has been strengthening its infectious disease surveillance and response capacity.
