When I learned that the Bible speaks of a restored Garden of Eden and the restoration of mankind to the perfection and endless life that Adam forfeited, I was thrilled. Who doesn't want to keep living on this beautiful earth, with our loved ones, and being able to do all the things we love to do---endlessly?
If God said to you today, "When do you want to die?" would you say "now!!"? I don't think very many people would say that.
We CAN live forever here on Earth. The Bible tells us that we can.

Exactly how does this show disagreement with what I said?Checkpoint wrote: [Replying to post 1499 by onewithhim]

We all have our answers to many questions.
Here is the answer Jesus gives us:
Matthew 13:[/i]
30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.
39 The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
40As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age.
41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil.
42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace,

Are you suggesting something Onewithim said in out of harmony with the above scripture? If so, what?

I dont see any disharmony. Perhaps you could explain in a few sentences what disharmony you see between what OWH said and the bold in the sited scriptures.

Yes. That seems also, the meaning evangelicals give to their term, "the end-times".JehovahsWitness wrote:Checkpoint wrote:As to JWs, you tell me, please, what do you mean by "the last days"?
We mean the last "days" (final period) of this present system of things.

I suggest "this present system of things" is what Revelation calls "the old order of things"; 21:4.

Yes I agree. God will we believe bring the present "order of things" to an end.

The present order of things is "the first heaven and the first earth", which will pass away, Revelation 21:1, after the final judgment and the destruction of the last enemy, death, Revelation 20:11-15.

NOTE The following:
THE END [Greek sunteleia ]
signifies "a bringing to completion together" (sun "with," teleo, "to complete," akin to No. 1), marking the "completion" or consummation of the various parts of a scheme. In Matthew 13:39-Matthew 13:40, Matthew 13:49; Matthew 24:3; Matthew 28:20, the rendering "the end of the world" (AV and RV, text) is misleading; the RV marg., "the consummation of the age," is correct. The word does not denote a termination, but the heading up of events to the appointed climax. Aion is not the world, but a period or epoch or era in which events take place.
source: https://studybible.info/vines/End,%20Ending
So when Jesus spoke about "the end" he was referring to a the final period of time leading up to a climatic event. This is clear since he compared this "end" period to a harvest which is a period of intense activity rather than a session of activity.
How long will "the end" of the system of things (also referred to as "the end times, "The last days", "the harvest season") last? That we dont know, but already it has lasted over 100 years. To illustrate A woman's pregnancy usually lasts 9 months. The end ("the sunteleia"), the culmination of her pregancy is marked by the beginning of her labour pains. In other words she knows her pregnancy is at "an end" when she feels her first contraction. This "end" ("the sunteleia") will represent a lot of hard work for her and her baby but it will climax with a new life coming into the world. The "sunteleia" (the end) for her will last about 8 hours or more but it won't continue indefinitely.
CONCLUSION When Onewithim spoke of {quote} "harvest time is the time leading up to the Great Tribulation" she was accurately expressing in her own words precisely what the original language text contained, namely that the harvest is the "sunteleia" of the age.

The literal earth and the heavens will never pass away. Revelation is mostly symbolic, unless you believe that a literal seven-headed beast comes out of the sea. This planet will last forever, and indeed that is why Jesus died---so that humans could fulfill Jehovah's original purpose and keep living on Earth forever. (Genesis 1:28; 2:15)
