And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

Doesn't this mean that if we do not believe in God, we will act as described?
And if so, can atheists not disprove this passage simply by being kind, considerate, and loving; refraining from the long list of evils above?

Is it fair to say the standard is not too high to reach; that all we have to do is meet or exceed the performance of the average Christian?

This kinda gets at it real good. Where this atheist is aware of certain Bible deals, I take the goodn's of 'em to heart. I don't go around stealing pies off window sills, 'cause I know they ain't cooked up for me, and If I ask, and I'm willing to do a little yard work or fixing up or such, I'm just as liable to get a slice as who it was cooked up for. And if I'm extra nice doing it, there may be a pile of ice cream on top of it. Or some sweettea at least.
